I'm contemplating purchasing a DBM system for my rifle which is built on a Stiller TAC 30 action and pillar bedded in a McMillan A5 stock. Currently the rifle has a BDL type floorplate. Which manufacturer would be the simplest to install(Seekins, Badger, CDI, etc)? Would they all require similar work i.e. modifying the opening and possibly grinding the existing pillars to get the right height/fit. I'll probably have a qualified smith do the install/modifications when I rebarrel. Thanks.

If you go CDI, you can send him your stock and he'll inlet it for you for a super reasonable price with fast turnaround. His inlet work is very clean.

The simplest with the BDL inlet is a Hooper Ordnance DBM. However, all will require fitting, so just choose which one you want and roll with it.

Simple and easiest for a short action is HS Percsion, but the mags suck balls and are exspensive, I would rather keep the BDL bottom metal than use the HSP, just pick one that uses AICS mags, and have a Smith install it for you.

simplest is the HS precision but 10 round mags are really expensive and hard to find.

I run Surgeon on mine but CDI has good stuff and will inlet your stock for you.

While I agree with you, I have found that Surgeon 591's in Manners Mini Chassis won't work with Alphas. I really wanted to, but the mag's forward follower retention tabs and front edge of mag don't fit. If the Tac30 needs the mag to come up/into the receiver opening that may be a consideration with them too. I PM'd Chris, and hopefully the input helps, as I'd LOVE to run them in my new rifle.

CDI will do the inletting for a very fair price, which I can't recommend enough. Badger also offers the same service. Both of these are top notch bottom metals. Letting them do the inletting is worth every penny. You can try to fit it your self, but at the end of the day it will never look the same. Good luck.

BTW, I also like the Surgeon very much, just didn't mention it because I don't know if they inlet stocks as a service for rifles they didn't build. If they do, you would be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than Preston. He is of the very best people that walk this earth.
