I had an M40A3 built by Dan over at DDRoss Company. I had the action clip slotted with his rail, DDross recoil lug, his bolt knob put on, and a side bolt release. I attached some photos of his work. His metal work is beautiful. He installed the Badger Ordnance lower and it was pillar bedded in titanium devcon. The barrel is a Shneider S7 contour with a Mcmillan A4 stock. The gun is very acurrate, I have shot sub quarter MOA at 100yds. I am very pleased with the work performed. Enjoy!

Re: DD Ross Built M40A3

Today it seems like everyone is building M40A3 clones to usmc spec. with OD green stocks. I am not hating because i have three, but you have got to give a guy props for taking a rifle that he likes and changing it up just a bit to make it his very own. True. One could say it is a Rem700 in an a3 stock because the only true M40A3s are built by USMC armorers. But I guess you could say the same of any gun built off a Rem700 receiver. But for those of us who are not, and never will be a SS these guns still kick @$$. Anyway you look at it, gun looks super cool from the Ross lug to the PR scope. Ross did a nice job here and the owner is a lucky guy.

Good lookin' rifle. How long did it take for Dan to build it up for you? And how did you manage to get him to sell you one of his lugged optics bases? Last I heard from him, he refused to sell those.

Re: DD Ross Built M40A3

Beautiful rifle. This one is rare because I don't think that Dan builds much with the Badger metal. I had Dan build me a rifle and the quality is top notch. I have several rifles that were built by other builders and you can definately tell the difference in both fit/finish as well as accuracy. Yes, Dan does not usually sell the parts he manufactures to civilians. Most of his business is of the Government and Law Enforcement type. You can tell if he actually built the rifle by his stamp on the bottom metal. His metal is available here and there, however, it is of the non stamped version. There is no difference between the quality of the two parts just one is specific to his builds. I am having him build me an M40A1 currently. I currently shoot a rifle that he built and have it pictures in the gallery http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showgallery&Number=1758075 The rifle is a Remington 700 in 30-06 with an A5 stock. Actually, I'm going out to shoot it here in about an hour as long as the rain holds off. Nice rifle. Semper Fi.

I will be having a new rifle built by Dan here soon and will probably go with the Premier Reticle 5x25. Your rifle has inspired me. The good thing is that Dan lives about 10 miles away from me so I can watch the progress.
