Re: DEC. 2012 SH Long Range Rimfire Competitions

name: oneforall
Rifle Russian vostok CM-2, 22LR
shooting on a table so it is 100YB-TQ4
scope 6-24x50 konus
ammo: CCI SV 0032
front : caldwell front rest, rear shoulder
temp 53 F
wind 7-8 MPH, changing
score 247 14x
The first 5 rounds all went into the X ring( took the X out of the paper almost) and formed one hole no bigger than 14/32 inch outside edge to outside edge, in this kind wind, i have done no better, thought about stop shooting right then and keep the target paper, then i thought, so what i read the wind right, doped the thing right and with cheap CCI ammo, just got lucky for one hole 5 round group, so i kept shooting, the 6th hole is one bullet hole higher than the first group of 5, the first 12 rounds all went into inside of 10 ring( 8 or 9 are into the X ring), then my thought was, maybe i can shoot a 250 in this wind? lost concentration, did not realized the wind change, the lucky 13th round went high at 10: at the 9 ring line, LOL, then, when i had two rounds to finish the 25, someone at the range called cease fire, i called out let me finish these two shoots!, sure everyone is nice enough to wait for me, but there are 20 pair of eyes all onto me, so pressure, i chocked 2 last rounds high at 9 ring, total score 247( was aiming at middle of 9 ring at 5:00 on most shoots), well, thanks god it is not a two way shooting range, at least i had fun, but my mental toughness sure need to work on. In the space of 20 min, i thought i had broke the world 100 yard rimfire record to the low of shooting the last 2 rounds into the 9 ring. emotion high and low. BTW, you still can see the first 5 round hole at the X, the next 20 rounds did not touch it. With this rifle, i had many 5 rounds 1 inch groups, never 14/32 inch group at 100 yard, and with this wind to work with.

Re: DEC. 2012 SH Long Range Rimfire Competitions

I have to admit that hunting season, holidays, and wierd weather took it's toll on my participation this month, as probably the case with most.

The subject of changing from 25 to a 10 round count has resurfaced, results from the poll are a 50 / 50 split with 10 folks weighing in. So it looks as if the round count will stay at 25 for 2013.

Re: DEC. 2012 SH Long Range Rimfire Competitions

i hear ya there! between the holidays, hunting season, building a .243, getting ready for some coyote contests, and life's demands, i havn't been able to get a few hours of range time in all month.

hopefully will get out this weekend and toss a few hundred rounds.

happy new year to you guys too.
