Here is the target I shot last Sunday. I'm trying to figure out where 25 shots landed. There might be 7 nines or 9 nines. I'll try and re-shoot this using a couple different targets, stacking them one after another every five or ten shots. I highly doubt that 6 or 8 rounds went through that bug hole at the 4:30 position from the bull. I'm not that good.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Erik, if those rounds didn't go through the 4:30 bug hole, where'd they go? I'd say you shot the 243-5x clean. Good shooting!

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

I guess anything is possible. But this was my first outing with the 40XB, and I just couldn't seem to get comfortable behind it and get locked in. I need to practice single loading without breaking cheekweld too. I'll edit my previous post, if anyone protests, I'll reshoot, once it stops snowing!

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

looks like a good clean target to me, with a little adjustment to the left, the score probably would have been even higher. looks like 7 9's and 18 10's just like you posted.

you probably did have the 6-8 rounds in that one hole, you can find comfort in that you really are that good.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

So I get out to the range only to realize that I left all my targets at home. So I traced a circle from a bottle I had with me and shot at it. Went home and measured out with my caliper. The center of the four blue X's mark exactly 2.5". The misses are marked by arrows. Basically anything more than a 1/4" from the red circle is a miss. Yes, another crappy target post by me.

VERY windy conditions = not so good for me.
By centering the target on a TQ4 and holding it up to a light I was able to get X hits and points.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

The day was mostly overcast with temps from 40 to 45 deg. while I was shooting. Breezy from the left of the targets. I tried to correct for this at 100 yds only to be off again at 200 yds. I recently made some wind flags only to forget them since they are new and don't fit in my range "baggage". Shot on 12/17/2010.

This is my first SH competition, and first competition period.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Got out today and shot the 100yd TQ-4. There was only a light breeze but it was snowing and the temperature was about 23 deg. I was have a horrible time with extraction and actually only had 1 round extract through this whole match... I'm about to give up on this gun altogether.
I had a little bit of trouble scoring the target so I added a close up if anyone want's to take a look.

For a busy month, there was alot of shooting going on, at least as what may have been expected during the Christmas season. there where a few new shooters to the comps this month also. A big welcome to 725FRANKY and GREVO, whom posted scores only a few points off from a perfect 250. Also a big hello to 124C41 and FOXTROTBRAVO.

Some recognition to RTHUR that posted his JUNE target this month - 250 -22x using .17 caliber at 100YP.

As the holidays are winding down and a new year begins, let's look to 2011 as the best year yet for the rimfire competitions. By looking back at all the different shooters, I'm sure that when Ol' Man Winter loosens his grip, that 2011 will also be the most active in participants also.

Hope Santa brought you all you wanted, and Happy New Year!
