I killed this doe this past Monday a.m. Nothing fancy other than the exit wound. She was quartered towards me. Shot was placed on shoulder and exited mid ways through her ribs. She was 60 yards away and I shot her w/ my .308 168 grain Remington Match ammo. The exit hole is the diameter of two fists and her entrails and stomach were hanging out of her side...nice! It was pretty nasty to clean but the meat is in the freezer. She weighed about 95 lbs.

Secondly is a bobcat I took this morning. I was sitting in the stand and I saw a couple deer. After they fed through I got down to head to the house. I decided, on the way out, to go check an old scrape line that I had found. While at the scrapes a deer blew at me. I froze...out of the corner of my eye I saw some movement. It was a bobcat. I was kneeling and I had my rifle at the ready. The bobcat stopped 7 yards from me. We were both frozen...looking at each other for about a minute (it felt like an eternity). After he realized something was "off" he slowly turned to leave, which afforded me the opportunity to take my shot. Obviously, he dropped from the .308.

What amazed me was how close he got to me. Normally they are very skidish. I guess I was in the right place at the right time. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. Have a good one.

We had the exact same thing happen during the Wy antelope hunt. A friend of mine hear shot a goat at 200 yds. Same performance, DRFT and a good portion of entrails were hangin out. Load:175smk and 44.0 RL-15. But they just pencil through right?

Re: Deer & Bobcat Pics

being that close to animals really gets our heart pumping!

i crept 50 yds, then crawled 23 yds on my hands and knees to a tree trunk that a young buck was bedded 7 yds from last wknd. stiff wind directly in my face and i kept the tree trunk between his face and mine, i could only see his butt from where i was crawling. i was only armed with my binoculars, didn't even have my cell phone to reach around the tree and take a picture. it was fun though!

hahah! entity! ahh i had that feeling when a couple little forkys sniffed the trail where i had crossed just under my stand! he looked up at me a few times and sniffed the air. thank god for scent killer! hahah. he had no idea i was there just feet above him. and yes, nice cat and doe! twice i have had bobcats walk right into me! the first one i didnt take a shot at the one last year got me by a huge surprise. sat still as he was walking right into me and when he was close, like 20 yards, i grabbed my rifle, got it up and pulled the trigger. right as i released, he jumped over a log back into the timber. i went over to check my shot and the top of that log was taken off by my bullet. lucky kitty!
