Well I think I can count out taking the 300rum I'm trying to build antelope hunting this year like I hoped. Found out today the Defiance Deviant action I ordered in November most likely won't be in my hands until the end of JUNE!! Everything I read recently said they were running around 90 days for an action. I hope it's worth the wait!

I ordered a Defiance action middle of October with a delivery date of end of May; ordered a McMillian stock in November with a delivery date end of April. But I'm getting exactly what I want: All good things come to those who wait....

Yeah i ordered a manners stock with an estimated delivery of 18 weeks and like you said, I'm getting exactly what I wanted. I was hoping to have the metal work done by the time the stock arrived. Looks like I'll be playing with the stock a while :)

I'm gonna wait for sure. Communication has been great with defiance. It will be 7 months from order to delivery but it'll make it that much more exciting opening that box when it arrives!

Just curious what custom specs did you order? I saw today on their facebook page they are releasing a Deviant Hunter action. Lightened up and made for easier top loading for BDL style rifles. Looked interesting

Well worth the wait. I just received a Left Handed Templar VII action and it is as smooothhhhh as butter!!!
All good things come to those who wait right.......

I don't think I could handle over a year lol. This is my first custom and it killing me! Bugholes has an action and it is almost PERFECT! Almost... It is even cut for my seeking DBM but it's not the same bolt flute depth or handle and its a a recessed bolt nose instead of flat... Now I know what most of you are thinking.. Very minor differences. Honestly I don't even know why I want the flat bolt nose lol. But Damn it I paid $1400 for this thing and I want it EXACTLY how I ordered it!! I decided I'm gonna wait and damn it that's what I'm gonna do!

now I need to really think about a custom serial number!

This is what you all are waiting for everyone. Trust me, it is worth it. Have faith and patience:

And the results of a 5 shot group at 100 meters:

Beautiful rifle! your not helping though lol. Curious what did you coat the bolt in?? I spoke with defiance on cerakoting it and they were kinda apprehensive due to the close tolerences. Looks like your bolt is coated in something different than the rest of the rifle.

Another worth your wait!!!

It will be worth remember...

I frankly do not know what the bolt is coated in. I would have to ask the people at GA Precision. It is a very thin application, nonetheless. The action was a little stiff when I first got it but after 500 rounds it is very smooth. The wearing removal of the finish reveals a beautiful chrome finish. I use Tetra grease to keep it lubricated. I suspect that the action should last a very very long time.

Awesome builds everyone! I really like the spiral fluting on your rifle bjay! I've been contemplating having my barrel spiral fluted but wasn't sure. I guess I have plenty of time now. I guess I could list the parts I have so far.
Barrel is a Bartlain from Grizzly. It's a 5r 308 with 1-10" twist. 1.250"x5" then tapers to .900" at a 30' finish length.
Timney 510u set at 2lbs
Seekins 338 DBM
Assassin Muzzle brake fro JE Customs.
stock was ordered in November it's a Manners T2A inlet for above parts in Coyote Tan.

I'm using Kevin Cram of Montour County Rifles for my smith.

I shot a buddy's Defiance and I get it but, 6 months?

Personally, I went with the Stiller Tac 300 -- Was on the shelf and I have no patience...But, that's just me.

Still a gorgeous action, I'll just never have that kind of patience.

I really can't explain why I wanted a defiance... I have followed them for years and I really like all the ability to make it EXACTLY what I wanted. They even cut it for the Seekins DBM. My shooting ability doesn't even warrant a custom action but hey, It's probably the only one I will ever own.

You guys are making me feel really good about the fact that bugholes.com had the exact Defiance that I needed for a 338LM on the shelf. Had it in a matter of days!!! ;O)

I just got an email from the folks at GA Precision. The bolt body is parkerized but the handle is cerakoted.

Like I said earlier, it was a little stiff at first, but smooth as budda now.

Dodgefreak - who did your spiral fluting? I have heard that Kampfield isn't taking barrel fluting orders anymore.....and i heard of another machinist who does that kind of work recently but the name escapes me now. I'm also curious what the minimum contour they will spiral flute?
