This is what happens when any 18 year old pothead can vote. Competency and government literacy tests are not racist if applied evenly. I bet that if AOC’s district had a basic civics test as a prerequisite to voting she would never have won.

They even gave the local tribal elders special representation in the government so as to preserve a semblance of franchise for those who chose to stay tribal and not be educated. Of course they were labeled racists for demanding everyone meet a standard regardless of skin color.

I would modify that to you have to do one of 3 things. You have to own property, pay X amount in taxes, or serve in the military. In other words, you have to have proven that you are a productive member of society and you have to have some skin in the game.

I fully agree with your expansion, especially paying taxes. A lot of people do not own property but pay tax.
