Although I keep looking, it seems the 30 Rem AR is now showing up. It shows good promise as a deer cartridge, with the potential to increase popularity of the AR15 among the hunting population. I am not really interested in an R15 rifle so much as the underlying cartridge and wildcatting possibilities.

In particular I am excited about the possibility of necking it down to 6.5 mm and pushing a 142 SMK to 2700 for 600 yard shots on deer. Such a cartridge would well outdistance the 6.8 spc, the 6.5 Grendel, the 7.62x39 and the 30 Rem AR.

Anyone know what's up?

Try to form it in a 6.5 Grendel FL sizing die and see what happens!

The 6.5 Grendel already has better ballistics than the 30Rem. at shorter and long range.

It would be a good round for hunting if your using an AR platfrom.

They should've picked a better name given that there's already a .30 Remington cartridge used in semiauto rifles (albeit old ones).

We have a few cats drawn based off the 450 bushmaster case(.473) rim,
the 30RAR was said to have a .493 rim to keep people from loading it in a 450 BM. Not sure the extra work is worth 100fps over the BRX ...at least not yet.
