Die and bullet weight advice for 7.5x55 k31

While the bore diameters of the 308 and the 7.5 are really really close the case capacity and pressure limits on the two rounds are a bit different. I'd not use 308 data for the round as there are plenty of places with load data for the 7.5. The pressure quoted for the 7.5 is 47,000 and the 308 is over 50,000. Just my opinion.
Reloader 17 seems to work very well in the cartridge and the 175gr bullets more accurately duplicate the original 174 gr types. I've yet to find anything out there that duplicates the ogive so the matchkings need to be seated deeper to clear the rifling. The K31 has a different throat than some of the earlier rifles and one improvement you can make is getting your seating depth to fit your rifle. I've been using RCBS dies for a long time to load for my straight pull Swiss rifles as well as the semi auto Stgw and PE57s. For my Desert tactical SRS I've just finished doing a barrel in the 7.5mm Swiss cal for the original GP11 cartridge and my reloads using Privi Partizan brass and 175 gr Sierra Matchkings have proven to be very accurate. The load is 47.5 gr of RL 17, Win LR primer and bullet seated to .020" off the lands. Your mileage will vary so work up the load on your own with your rifle to get best results. I believe the load I'm currently using is a good starting load and not a hot one. I've run some of this ammo in the 1911 long rifles and the K31 and it shows no signs of high pressure.
There is a board on swissrifle.com for reloading ammo for the straight pull Swiss rifles. You might have a look over there. There are a lot of guys shooting and loading these rifles.

Hope that helps

Frank
