Is there a difference between the remington 700 Long action ( 300 win mag) and the remington .338 lapua action. I am wanting to turn my 300 win mag into a .338 Lapua. I have the .338 bolt and was going to get a bartlein barrel and change the magazine. Is this possible or does anyone know of any issues I may run into or what to look out for? I was told to find out the thread depth on both actions. Can anyone give me that info?

Thanks in advance!

It will fit the bolt stop will need to be worked on and it may not eject live rounds very well bit I have one built on a 300 ultra mag action with a ptg bolt and it works recently put it in a xlr chassis and couldn't be happier, I have a carbon fiber stock with hopper enmity I've been thinking about selling if you're interested.

How hard was it to fit the bolt stop and any way to help make it eject live rounds easily? Anyone elses thoughts on this? What were your threads on the receiver? I heard the .338 threads were a bit heavier duty.

I converted one, using a PT&G bolt. I didn't have to do any work to the bolt stop. It ejects mag length rounds without any difficulty.

If you load longer than mag length, you may have an issue ejecting the loaded rounds.
