Different length buffer tubes?

Are there rifle length buffer tubes that are different lengths? I'm trying to mount a PRS to my buddies Les Baer. It has a standard A2 stock on it now. The buffer tube stops the PRS about 5/8" short of the back of the lower. Does the Magpul take a special tube?

Have you tried giving it a slap on the end with the palm of your hand. Mine slid on and stopped. Gave it a slap and it went on the rest of the way.
Pretty sure I am using just the standard buffer tube (non-adjustable).

Yeah, the stock is on as far as it will go. I can see that it's bottomed out through the hole for the mounting screw. I've even tightened the screw down trying to make sure it was bottomed out and it's still 5/8" short of where it needs to be. I'm sure I'm missing something simple.

The original A2 stock on a rifle-length buffer tube would have had a spacer piece installed. Did this rifle have the spacer? It's not needed with a PRS.
Not sure if Les Baer would have gone out of their way to fabricate their own buffer tube that was inclusive of the length of the spacer but who knows what they're up to. If that is the case, then you will have to get a standard rifle buffer tube.

I'd agree with checking to make sure the spacer isn't in there. Next step would be to get a new rifle receiver extension.

I seem to remember having to tap my PRS on with a rubber mallet.

I believe this to be the case. I think the spacer has been built into the tube for whatever reason. I don't believe that it's only Les that's doing this. After looking around the net, it appears that there are quite a few tubes made this way.
