Re: Different...........

Honestly my feeling is this. That bi-pod they make would be better served in a scrap yard than on a precision rifle. Or perhaps a machine gun. All you need is an $18 adapter and you can put a real bi-pod on it.

I'll step of the box for a second and say that I'm not sure what you mean by "clearance the barrel". I just felt like being an ass about their bi-pod.

Re: Different...........

On heavier contours, the barrel will hit if you use the TRG bipod. The barrel will have to be clearanced for the bipod. I know on a Krieger HV contour it will not clear. A M40 might clear, but doubtful and a AMU for sure will not without cutting into the barrel.

Re: Different...........

Well you certainly don't want to cut on the barrel right there. You'd be pissing harmonics down the drain if you started milling it out. The bassic rule of thumb for me is simple with the Sako's. If you want to really make them shine when they get worn out.....trash the old barrel for a new one (heavier is much better on the 338's), get rid of the bi-pod science experiment and go to something like a Harris for starters, and also remove the shitty sling mount on the side. Then you can do whatever you want.

For the money I would say Sako has one of the absolute best factory rifles out there. Course then again you are getting in the custom realm at their price range. We built quite a few for Berretta when they first started pursuing the USMC contract. Not one failed to deliver absolutely stellar performance. Not to mention there isn't a 338 out there that feeds easier from the mag.

The paint job set me back a bit when I first saw it. You should see the detail in person. There is some serious talent in those hands of Mick's.
I've got plans for a new video soon and a paint job from Mick will be in the works when I get my new bench rig together.
