If I'm using a 650, and I suddenly, for whatever reason, decide that I want to stop feeding primers for a moment, (say, to adjust powder, or length, or whatever, using the same round without feeding new brass) is there an easy way to stop the machine from loading primers, or do I have to clear the entire primer system?

Simply loosen those two screws, push the bracket just like I am with your finger, and snug the screws back up. It's just the luck of assembly, not everyone has to do it. The only installation detail to look for is the fail-safe bracket for the powder drop often needs to be moved as in picture #3.

Yup, What jetsurgeon reccomended is a 650 upgrade that is long overdue. Had mine for a year and still grin everytime I use it.
Yes he has that covered as well, I have just about all of “snowshooze” stuff on eBay for my 650, his stuff should come standard. I’ll get you the case feed stop here in a sec.

Positioned too far left, it can crash the Case Drop Pawl at full top stroke. At top stroke, it is fully clear of the Case Drop Pawl. This is my Case-Feed Stop Switch for the Dillon XL 650 as well as the new XL 750.

Yep that will work as well. For years I used a set of pre bent wires to stop the case feed and primer feed, both worked, just liked how SnoeShooze did his.

I just bent a wire to hold the lever back. Works great.
I also drilled a hole in the black indexing thing on the left side of the ram and have a pin spring setup holding it clockwise so it does not index.
Definitely helps.
