DIP scope base torque?

Re: DIP scope base torque?

I've managed to mount a lot of bases and rings without a torque wrench, and since I acquired one I realized I had been using far more torque than necessary, with no problems other than one base I'll probably have to heat to remove. Having said that, I suggest you use the torque wrench you have to get a feel for 15 in-lbs and then estimate the lighter torque unless you can borrow the appropriate wrench.

8-10 sounds really light to me...

Re: DIP scope base torque?

another thought - if you have a trigger pull gauge or similar, use that with a wrench: 1 pound eight to 10 inches from the head, or 2 pounds 4 to 5 inches out, etc.
