After reading the long thread about tacticalrifles.net it got me thinking that a list of good trustworthy gunsmiths or custom rifle builders in your states or cities would be really helpful.
My first Bolt gun purchase was a pre-owned rifle that turned out to be a piece of crap that I got at a gun show. Stock screws were stripped, the parts the seller said were in it weren't, the bipod was repaired with a pin and the muzzle brake would not come off without cutting (We asked the guy before I bought it.)And that was an FFL dealer. "All sales are final"
After that I stalked my local ranges asking anyone who looked like they were a serious shooter to point me into the direction of a reputable builder to get a custom built rifle.
I got super lucky to find a guy down here in Miami who is no longer in the business but does some work on the side to build my rifle. In our small group he is the go to guy. But if you don't come to him through a friend he isn't doing any work for you.
Our community needs references to help avoid people like Rooney at tactical rifles.
Any recommendations would be really helpful.
