If your dishwasher isn't working properly, I suggest divorcing her and finding a new one!

I got swayed to not get a Bosch, but ultimately regret it. I have a mid-upper Kitchen Aid (Whirlpool). Louder than it used to be though. And, my experience with Maytag (also Whirpool) washer/dryer pretty much tells me no more Whirlpool shit for me. Even my Fridge is a WP...and the drawer doesn't shut well anymore. All less than 5 years.

Ultimately, a DW is a commodity item at this point; and doubtful anybody's going to make something like an old-school Westinghouse that would last 30 years.

I think you're right. You're pretty much looking at a crap shoot nowadays when purchasing any appliance.
Talking to the appliance repair guys down the street from the shop, they said Bosch hands down. They also said to stay away from anything Samsung or LG. Buy appliances from brands that have built em forever. Not phone manufacturers that stick a bunch of tech shit in crappy appliances.

I was leaning towards the young nude blonde but the wife vetoed it.
This. Had a Bosch 800 series that was great, up until we got a tankless water heater. So with that caveat, get a Bosch.
Bosch. Whirlpool or Maytag if not Bosch.
Many of my Samsung and LG appliances have not been durable after 3-5 years- everything from dryers to TVs to Refrigerators.
I don't necessarily have any issues with South Korea, but the more recent Samsung and LG stuff has been a big disappointment.

100% Bosch. Very quiet, as in you can watch tv in the next room without being annoyed. Owned over 7 years now with no maintenance issues. Dishes and glasses come out clean and dry. Plastic Tupperware usually needs a quick dry with a dish towel.
this would be a good time to sit down with your wife and express your concerns and expectations.

Bosch bought a 6 year warranty and it died year 7. No parts , all on backorder for months but it was a good DW
Now Fisher Paykel-very expensive works great. couldn't get another Bosch Nov 22 as they were backordered from my dealer by 600 units.
Don't expect anything to last like the old ones did

Another vote for Bosch...although we hardly ever use it, most of the time it's just extra storage for things that won't fit in the cabinets.

Wanted a Bosch 500 for our new place- backordered for over a year at the local rapist dealer- lucked into a new 800 series that Home Depot shipped direct to our place from Seattle while we were in AZ for like $60 delivery charge. Love it.
I’ve been a builder for over 35 years, I recommend Bosch to are clients. They’ve proven to be great machines.
Another vote for Bosch, very quiet, cleans the dishes although we do pre-rinse out of habit, and with just the 2 of us here, we don't run it but 2x/week at the most. Wife complains about the "steam dry" feature which tries to dry via steam, and that is the only negative she has. She just opens the door and let the dishes air dry overnight.
I got fucked by Miele, bought a Bosch but with experience I now realize I should have kept the Miele.
My model Miele, 2008 circa, had a shit water valve control.
I must have replaced two or three feed lines because the valves kept failing.
Than I googled the problem and found there was an easy fix in replacing the Mirle valve with a cheap American machine one. Seemed to fix the problem.
Than within days I noted a water leak in the Miele and said fuck this thing and bought the Bosch.
While installing the Bosch I learned that the drain line had to be routed in a loop to break siphon or the water fills back into the machine and causes a leak.
My Miele was probably fine if I had run the drain to break siphon.
The Bosch works fine but except for the shit valve the Miele is a way better machine.

I'm looking at this year buying My Lady a dishwasher for the first time, and this is the direction I'm going to head. Thank you. (prior to now, it just hasn't been an option.....)
And if you want your dishes dried, too, make sure she squirts out a daughter, too!

Everyone is going to say Bosch. It was between bosch and Miele for our last new purchase.
We got the Bosch and it’s fine. It’s quiet and cleans well. But it’s not that much better than our old kitchen aide.
Stay way from LG. I think Maytag would be a decent choice now too.

We have had a LG,Samsung and currently have a Bosch. The LG and Samsung died within 4 years..the Bosch has been rock solid so far,only 2 years on it though so We'll see.
ETA..We run ours 2x a day at least..with 3 boys We go through some dishes!

KitchenAid. Quiet, clean,zero issues. We put in two (better to have a second dishwasher than another base cabinet if you're doing a remodel and have the space).
Don't forget Bosch's kissing cousin Siemens, basically the same company. Like many thing all this stuff is made by like three people.
As to Samsung and LG, as I understand it, it is a little like Datsun and Nissan, here there same same, with LG, being more "neutral" over Samsung.
LG stands for Living Good, so that is much more 'merican.
Personally my view is they are all made to be replaced inside of 15 years. The days of that International Harvester Frige lasting 60 years is long over.
