Suppressors Dissapointing range trip using thread adapters...

Re: Dissapointing range trip using thread adapters...

You might also consider asking if you can get the SAS brakes non-threaded, then a reputable smith/machinist could cut/thread them to fit your individual rifles and be permanently attached...

My cans are modular! </div></div>I thought of this the other day ("I wish I ordered a shark, I could just get the right back plate!")

I had strongly considered yours when I bought mine. Live and learn, I guess.

In either case, if I were sending the barrel to the smith, he could definitely fit it to the rifle, either by re threading or fitting.

bm11,

Slow down, swap front is part of a process in getting the right can. Take the time to hear as many as you can, ask as many questions as you can. You got burned on the adapter issue, learn from it and take your time on can selection. There are a few great cans out there and they are worth seeking out.

Just like to point out that I've bought two adapters from ksville, found the work to be excellent and have had no problems swapping them around on different rifles with different cans.

1911fan </div></div>I would also like to clarify that ksville is really a stand up guy. I told him I needed the adapters quick (I was anxious to shoot my TRG and OBR suppressed) and he said "I'll get them out to you, we can worry about settling up on the cash later." He OVERNIGHTED them to me the next day, and then after hearing about the issues I had, refused to accept payment for them. He truly is a good guy, and it makes me feel that much worse that things didn't work out.

</div></div>Rollingthunder,

I'm not buying anything today. I actually DID a lot of research before buying the SAS can- I read as many threads as I could on here, did additional research on silencertalk.com, started a few thread here about it, and even called and talked to Stacey at Accuracy International (AI North America is now dealing with SAS suppressors on their new AE covert, as well as selling a SAS suppressor with a proprietary QD mount that you can only get from AINA.)

At the time, it was the best option- it was a single point titanium, with great reviews and a good value to boot. At the time, the only application I had a use for was my AIAW, so getting the 18x1.5 made the most sense.

In the time it has taken for the form 3 and form 4 to clear, I have since diversified my precision rifle collection. In hindsight, had I known I was going to end up with 3 different rifles with 3 different thread pitches, I would have just gone with the Shark (I had considered it strongly for that reason.)

Back to the drawing board!!!

Re: Dissapointing range trip using thread adapters...

The way I went about this was to have my TRG-42 chopped and threaded 5/8-24. That way the can mount was ideal. Then I had my machinist turn the part he chopped off into a thread adapter so I could use the factory TRG muzzle brake. It works beautifully. I wouldn't recommend running the can on a threaded adapter. My TITAN was around $1800 and I don't want that sucker kabooming. He even indexed it so I could use the TRG iron sights if I wanted with the adapter/brake installed.

I don't know about a thread adapter to use the muzzle brake, I probably won't use it once it is threaded for the can.

My thoughts exactly.
Most people cut to fit.
Gauges are not cheap.
We have seen that they can be anodized, and plated.
Most are one step below would you like to superersize your fries?

Proper set up can cost more than your can, gun, truck.
Machining to spec should be ok.
Many are not.

Can't make adapter on a pipe threader.
