Was thinking a 1 stamp 16" barrel ar would be nice in 556. Think larue suurg esque but I don't want to get an upper would like a a very light setup does it exist if not why not? Does that design just not allow for reasonable level of suppression or what?

I think you're talking about an integrally suppressed rifle, and yes, they do exist. Liberty Suppressors in GA makes one called the Leonidas. And I think Gemtech makes a couple, and several others, as well.

Sorta I want to buy a brake I can silver solder onto any upper I want and slip the suppressor over it

You can do that, but OAL will not be a 16" barrel, unless you're flash hider/adapter is like 6" long and screws onto a 7.5" barrel... I supposed custom machine work it could be done, but you would have to talk to a custom suppressor shop, like Liberty Suppressors in GA, ECCO Machining, Darkhorse Suppressors, or someone like that, that makes integrals, and will do the custom work. Best bet would be Dave over at Liberty Suppressors in Georgia.

The larue and the gemtech were both suurg applications. I just want their suppressor base/suppressor without the upper. Ideally with slightly more current/lighter design. I pretty much ask something similar to this every year hoping someone has brought one to market.

10.5-11.5 barrels are very doable here.

yeah it sounds like you essentially want a suppressor mono-core baffle system that you can pin to your barrel, then slide the outer can over it....

....unfortunately, you wont find anything like that.....not that way you are thinking.....as the "brake" would legally be a suppressor component and subject to regulation just like a full suppressor....

the Suurg....that seems like its kind of skating a fine line as far as legality goes....i can easily see the AFT getting a wild hair up their ass and declaring the "muzzle brake" a suppressor component

but ive not seen anything similar on the market.

the closest thing ive seen is the Witt machine SME...

they are great for redirecting muzzle blast, especially on SBRs.....but they are no suppressor, not in the least.

Yes I assumed I'd have to purchase together
Didn't Sig made something similar with either MPX or MCX at the earlier days and got into some trouble with ATF?
Sig won the suurg competition due to piston but then tried to direct sell the baffle sans suppressor obviously a no go.

That was the first thing that came to mind:

I can totally see how this got sideways - baffles (and other suppressor parts) are arbitrarily considered to be the same as complete silencers by the ATF. I don't agree with this stance, but I don't get to make the rules (trust me, life would be more fun if I did).
