Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

I hear lots of "the best you can get" talk about GA Precision, but I still haven't found any range reports of how they actually shoot in the Semi-Auto platforms. They guarantee .75 MOA, but I am guessing since POF, Armalite & DPMS can easily do that, there must be something better about these!

Let's see how those GA Precision AR10 & DPMS rifles shoot!

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

That's crap. There is plenty of information about GAP semi-autos. I personally have a hold of two, one in 260 and one in 308. Both will shoot well under .75 and have done so in competitions.

There are many nice AR platforms out and GAPs are right there at the top.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Buff, your timing looks bad.

I have had an AR10 Precision Upper from GAP for about ten years. Many Many Many rds through the tube and no log book. Guess close to 10K. It still holds .75 moa groups with factory ammo and when she was young it was right at .50 moa. That upper runs like a dream and I am not going to touch it until something breaks.

Now as to Armalites and the others holding .75 moa groups? Not with any factory ammo I have used. More likely 1.25 moa so the short of the range report is its great improvement over the factory stuff that may or may not work.

The rifle in this video was built by GAP...

I have more of the 16" rifle, as others have spoke about its accuracy but nothing formal has every been written as it wasn't necessary. If too many people want AR-10s from GAP it slows Flounder down and that means I can't them for me as fast as I want... Flounder has done 4 AR type rifles for me and they all kick much ass.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

I have a GAP bolt gun that will hold a 1/2, and my DPMS SASS factory will hold about a minute with match ammo.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Crap or not, I want to SEE the results. A picture says a thousand words, and I read that they are the "shizzle", but I want to see proof. Opinions are like @$$Holes. One man's 1.5 MOA shooter is "awesome", another's .25 MOA shooter is "awesome"

Never did I insinuate that they aren't capable of shooting groups under .75. I just want to see the .25" or .5" or .05" groups that are normal with these guns. I should have known I would get flamed for wanting to know more about GA Precision here. My search over the past 2 years in this forum didn't have any targets showing the accuracy.

Thank you to Lowlight for providing some of what I wanted to see.

Anyone else?

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

The only way you are going to see the real thing is to watch someone shoot a GAP S-A. Anyone can post a group. A picture may be worth a 1000 words but it doesn't prove anything.

No one is trying to flame you but nothing is a substitute for either a video, a la Lowlight, or real world visualization.

If I showed you a picture of a 5-shot one hole group which measured 0.42 inches across, and said it was shot with a GAP rifle at 100 yards, would that prove anything?

Well, it would prove that I have access to a picture of a one-hole 0.42 inch group.

I might have downloaded it off the Internet.

I might have shot it with my Accuracy International, with which I have shot a 0.42 inch 5-shot group at 100 yards in 20 seconds. It's really about a half-MOA rifle, but I was having a good day.

Or I might have shot it with a stock Remington PSS with a Weaver 4-power scope at 25 yards. Or at 5 yards.

And your search fu is weak. There are lots of pictures of GAP groups.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

I wish all you new guys would keep questioning ALL GAP builds. Just stay on the computer and ask to see groups, range reports and other anecdotal bullshit. And by all means-don't man-up and place an order for a stick.

THAT WAY-those of us that already KNOW the deal-will get out builds from GAP quicker.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Buffet, come over and I will show the medals won in National and International Comps with GAP Rifles. I have more than a few. Those you can look up in the books to see if real or not. Otherwise if you dont take a mans word how it shot there is no reason to believe he shot the groups in the photos. I have to say this many guys talk on the net in ways that would not go well in person. Bad form to say you want to see proof.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

I have seen and know of more factory and custom AR10/AR10 clones through the years that have been bought to precision shoot with and dumped because the OP does not have a
clue/patience/perseverence to learn how to extract the accuracy out of one. People take them out and shoot a bunch of groups with them and make an immediate generalization that AR10's are not as accurate as a bolt rifle.
AR's (especially Stoner direct impingement) are inherently a very accurate platform by design and manufacturability. They are quite typically as accurate as bolt guns.
AR rifles and especially the AR10's (being a bigger rifle having much more mass reciprocating back and forth than the AR15's) are all about the shooter not the platform.
The person who posted this thread could have the most accurate AR10 ever built and he will end up throwing it in the "For Sale" section. I can pretty well guarantee that.

I have owned and have shot with a number of AR10/AR10 clones over the past 10 years.
I currently have a GAP .308 AR10. It is the most accurate AR10 I have ever owned. How accurate is it? It is scary ass accurate. I will do long range load testing with it or shoot a long range competition with it and it will absolutely amaze the hell out of me every time out.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Proof on the internet.....interesting concept

Spend some more time in the gravy line gettin your fat on.....or shoot a whole lot more ande learn the lessons yourself. If you are smart you can lessen that learning curve by taking some time to search and read. If nothing else it might teach you that guys like Mike, Tactical, and Lindy shoot more than enough for you to be able to take their word for proveable experience.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

I don't post much, but I do lurk. And I realize that GA Precision is lauded on this forum.

Yet on this thread, there is one post that says if a guy shows a group, you can't trust that it is from the rifle because it is on the internet. Another post here says that I have to take a man at his word. Another says that I need to plop down $3000 to see for myself.

The reason why I posted this is because I have a GA Precision barrel on order for a build that I am doing. I wanted to see if I was going to be the limiting factor, or if the barrel is because I have had bad experience from other manufacturers that are as lauded elsewhere as GA Precision is here, while I have had amazing experiences with manufacturers that are typically looked down upon here and elsewhere.

It is not very welcoming or helpful to say there are thousands of pictures of groups for the particular rifles I was seeking without posting links to at least one of them.

And finally after getting talked down to by nearly everyone that has posted, I have gathered that obviously I have no skill, competency, or past experience with shooting so there is no need to actually post a picture of a target (maybe with 4 or 5 groups on it to show a pattern) of what a typical range day with the semi-auto GA Precision rifle is like because I am too dumb and inexperienced to realize what it would mean.

To all that helped... Thank you.

To everyone else, I can only wish to be as cool as you are and flame a complete stranger who is only asking you to show off your kick-ass toys and what they can do. Excuse me for being an unworthy poster on this forum and I apologize for imposing upon the self-righteous that "KNOW" the truth.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Buff, I answered your question. I did not talk down I stated you came off badly, which you did. I also stated I would be glad to show you proof of the rifles ability to shoot by showing you medals won in competition. Honestly that should be worth a bit more than a random group photot on net. You could not possible recognize as evidence of anything but a photo. Atleast the medals will have a trail where you can check out if they are real or not. Once again the rifles shoot very well.

Lastly, anyone can have a bad bbl but most likely if your new GAP bbls does not shoot it will be you.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Buff,dude-EVERYBODY has gotten their balls busted here. This community has some serious,hardholding-truly deadly accurate shooters. Most of us have "kick ass" toys-as you put it.GAP's are well represented-forget all the other posts but Lowlight's video. I you aren't already aware-this is his house. Notice what he is shooting-and he has the pick of the litter-look where he is shooting: Rifles Only-THE premier Long Range/Tactical Rifle training facility. Frank is a full time shooter. Watch the video.

ANY reasonable person would say-well USO and a GAP will get the job done. What more do you want to see?

Get over it. You weren't even close to feeling any heat. No flames were necessary. You asked a question and you got an answer. NOBODY said you were "unworthy". Welcome to the hide.

If you are looking for a gas gun. Pick up the phone, call GAP.Order and unpatiently wait and you will receive. Not only will you have a fine stick. You'll possess money in the bank-because IF you ever need to raise some quick funds-you sell it in a hardbeat. Take it as "worthy" advice.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

Several times I have saw a guy say " I live in XXX and was wondering how yyyy Product works". And then a member replied "I will have mine at ZZZZZ range, come down and try it out before dropping the cash".

That happens here a lot . Your method has been tried quite a few times and nearly 100% of the time it ends the same way that this is heading.

You are new to the site, you are questioning an established shop(not that I blame you when dropping that kind of cash, you need to be certian). The shop you speak of has supported, and I mean BIG, every match that I have shot, above the local level. Then you get short with some of the more senior and experienced people here, while they are trying to give you information on the exact experience you request. How do you think this will go?

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

My DPMS SASS upper will occasionally make groups like that, but it is usually in the 1" range, which is all I expected out of it. I'm more annoyed that I had to dremel the feed ramps to get it running properly, that sort of thing should have been done at the factory. I'll take some target pics next time I go to the range.

Re: Does anyone have a GA Precision Range Report?

First off GAP doesn't make barrels, they do have several suppliers that they use (Bartlein, Rock, Schneider, etc) but in any recent memory George is not taking any orders that are not complete builds. So as per his statement they aren't selling just barrels.

Secondly, IF you have any shooting experience as you claim, you should know better than to think that a barrel in and of itself will change the accuracy of a firearm. Too many variables related to the action and subsequent barrel assembly and stock bedding/install to think that a magic barrel is out there.

Third, as stated above, there were quite a few posters who handled your question before you started posting like an asshole. Then as per the custom here on SH you opened yourself to a tune up.
