I was checking my powder inventory and I was shocked to see only a little H110 in my 8lb container that might not even make it through a 100 rounds. I just spent an hour looking online and everyone is “back ordered” for it. I forgot that I had back ordered it at Midway one heck of a long time ago and it is still on their B/O list. Does anyone know if there is a problem with Hodgdon? I would think at least a few people somewhere on the Internet would have H110 in stock if they are still making it. If they are making it, does anyone know of a source for a 8 lb jug?……………

H110 has been scarce since this began. Recently (as in about 2 weeks ago) there was a shipment and that's why there was some sitting on the shelf in Chattanooga.

At the distributor I work at we're seeing more come in. The hot powders are still very scarce but it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Some powders, mostly IMR, such as 4064 have been coming in abundance. Others, such as Varget are still hard to get.

I got an 8# keg two weeks ago at a local gun show for $161 before tax and the only #8 keg of varget for $181 as I was about the 20th person to get in the show when it opened. They still had more kegs of h110 when I was there.

Hello Gunny,

You have a good point as the Lyman loading manual shows the same loads and velocities for both powders. But, I found on the Internet looking for W296 was just as scarce as H110. I even thought of Hodgdon Lil' Gun but that's like trying to find hens teeth too. This governmental thing is really beginning to tick me off...............

Hello MadRoofer,

Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to know who sponsored the show so I can keep an eye open. Here in Northern Illinois the shows are rather small but it looks like I'll have to start making the rounds. Thanks.

Barry I am not sure who puts on the show but I know the people I got the powder are from cedar rapids, iowa if that helps. They never bring guns to the show only powder, brass and bullets. I will try and find out more for you and let you know in a pm.

Hello MadRoofer,

At this point I'm almost ready to drive out to one of the larger gun shows. Right now the next one I found is in Fort Wayne this coming weekend with 475 tables. But, there is another weather system that's suppose to move through the Midwest next weekend that might put a halt to that idea.

Hello MadRoofer,

I found the sponsor of the Cedar Rapids show buy looking up gun shows for 2014 and then looking in February. They showed it was at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway Expo Center and the promoter was the "Trade Show Productions" Thanks for pointing me on the right track..............

Yep that is the name of the people who put it on. I sent you a pm the other day with the website of the people I got the powder from. Just call them and see if they can sent you powder. If you didnt get the pm let me know. If you plan on going to the big gun shows here in Iowa I highly recommend you go on Friday and get in line before the show starts as that is the only way to get the best chance to get what you want.
