I know STI/Staccato and Paraordinance (RIP) used to, but is anyone currently making a good double stack 2011 in 45 acp? Ideally a firm with an established track record who is unlikely to disappear in the next decade.

Thanks

Para (RIP)... you mean good riddance.

Having shot unknown thousands of rounds through my "STI" Spartan in USPSA, I'd be willing to give the Armscor a try.

It's that or find a used STI on Gunbrokeme.

2.87 pounds empty 😳 I guess it’s not for carry so probably comparable to others. I know my dads Wilson is a heavy sucker

Didn't notice that but yeah that's a heavy gun...I carry a Wilson Combat 3.25" SFX9 or a EDC X9S both 10 rounds both 2.14lbs loaded.
I tried hard to like the plastic guns...3 P365s, 1 P365XL, shot 2 hell cats and a glock 43 and a 43X...also owned a CZ 75 compact and a CZ P01 I liked both but could not get past the triggers...I know CGW does triggers but I personally prefer a 2011 and just deal with the weight which after carrying for awhile I've just gotten use to.

I also own a Staccato C2 but its a little long in the grip how the mag sticks out...IMHO the WC SFX9 and or the EDC X9S are the perfect carry guns...I know they are not cheap but again IMHO worth every penny.

I’ve tried to love double stack .45’s. There’s just no way to build them where they feel as good (to me) as a single stack 1911. It’s simply a fatter, longer, round than a 9mm.

I’ve fondled FNX’s, CZ97’s, even Glocks. Brother in law had an old Para double stack .45. They all feel like a 2x4 in my hand. Even though the guns themselves can be lighter than a steel framed 1911, they still typically have a much larger footprint (and thicker) if carrying concealed is a concern.

I once made the statement that I wish Springfield would build a Prodigy double stack .45. Anymore, I don’t even think that would turn me on.

I’ve finally just come to the conclusion that if Alvin York can put down 6 Krauts close up and in rapid succession with a single stack 1911, it’ll probably work for me.

I wonder what the guy who was leading that charge thought when he looked over his shoulder after the first five rounds missed him…

Sgt. York was a quick thinker there. Start at the back of the line…

Coming to the same conclusion. I wish more 1911s would get optics cuts.

I’m with you on optic cuts.

I bought a DW Specialist a while back with the intent of getting it milled. I love everything about the pistol EXCEPT that I CANNOT make it group as well as my old Kimber. I’d mill the Kimber, but I like the Dan Wesson better!🤣

I’m going to fool with the DW a bit more before I send it down the road though.

Tisas (for those of you who are not above such brands), is supposed to be coming out with an optic-cut model.

Contact a custom gunsmith. In the end you will pay about the same and have a better gun.

Two important points with 45 ACP 2011s. Do not use a ramped barrel. Do use SV mags/tubes.

Girsan 2311 or (much more expensive) TriArc in .45 if you want a Government Model single-stage trigger -- otherwise fairly slim pickings. I can't afford a back-up STI 2011 in .45 so bought a Glock 41.
