Sidearms & Scatterguns Does this 1911 Exist? 6", 9mm, Full Pic Rail

No functional reason in particular. I saw a picture of this particular configuration once and thought it looked cool. That's really the only reason as foolish as it sounds. I had a Kimber Custom 1911 5" years ago that I sold and regretted it ever since. I most recently had a Colt Officer, but it wasn't as fun to shoot as the full size. I'd like to get into some type of full size 1911 for plinking and figured I might try to find a 6" version if they exist.

lots of firearms bought on looks alone. Many shoot great too.

You think I love LC smith SxS shotguns because they are the easiest or best?

No, cause they are awesome and appeal to my personal tastes, which are old school.
Given a choice for looks, I like wood stocked/blued steel bolt guns, classic shotguns, 1911s, and blued revolvers.

Kinda like one pretty lady can obliterate your mind and another gets a “pretty lady” and thats it.

In that case, forget about it. I think a full length rail on a 6" barreled 1911 looks stupid.
Hmmmm
What YOU think "looks stupid" has no bearing on anyone else until they deem it time to sell it. Then what EVERYONE thinks is of great importance.
Folks be buy'n up them optic-ready pocket pistols but they don't give a :poop: what I think about them.

Is this the type of pistol you were referring to?

sorry, i see it was posted above....it has a 7.13 inch slide / 5 inch barrel if that helps

i know Fusion makes a bunch of long slides....i bet they could help.

I have a longslide 9mm and it's kind of cool, i like the way it looks, it works well and is very accurate (but not more accurate than my 5 inch 9mm 1911).... i should however note that i'm somewhat disappointed in the slow/sluggish slide rhythm. i know it may sound funny but the 5 inch 9mm 1911 cycles so nicely and even tempoed that it's ridiculously quick to get back on target. I always feel like i'm waiting on the long slide.

This despite the slide being carefully lightened and having played with multiple spring weights etc to little avail.

The nice thing about a long slide is of course the "long sight radius". They are easier to shoot well.

Plus the extra weight up front keeps the muzzle rise under control better. Like the heavy dust cover 5" versions we see, STI edge, etc.

Everything has its compromises and benefits.

It'd be fun gun to plink with and especially for target.

Op, get what you want, lol, who cares what others prefer. I like things that are different myself and it's always fun to get em out and upon gazing know that they are rare and unconventional.

The Svi will be $5k probably lol.

we need pics of said gun by the way.
Agreed on the pics.
From SVI... probably closer to 7ish.
Out of my purview, but if I could I would. I have a build in mind that I would love to have them put together but it won't happen unless I hit the lottery.

Yup, around $7k each. Used they can be had for less, about 50% less. Still remember grabbing my IMM for $3200 off the Brian Enid forums. Miss that gun.

I can't find that picture I referenced anywhere. It was matte stainless and must have been a full custom.

one of these would be sweet......

One may call a 9mm whatever they want, but a real 1911, carries .45 ammo!
So a colt commander isn’t a 1911? Come on.

To the op I have a few full customs I’d give one of the Rogers a call. Chuck has never done me wrong, never had a pistol not work when it came back. Even a officers 9mm (for when you want glock 19 size and weight but only have 9rounds,lol)
