I REALLY like the MOE fixed rifle stock, but I'm hoping to load up the stock with some weight (betteries, etc) to offset a can. Does anyone make an insert that fits inside and holds items so they don't just rattle around? Hoping for something like the Hogue insert for their pistol grip.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping to have something that is still useable and not just fill the void with shot and epoxy. I still want to keep my NFA forms and batteries and the like in there.

fill most of the void with lead shot and cover it up with packed up newspaper, leave enough room on top for your paperwork and batteries.
cheers.

That would work too. I was thinking about cutting a piece of dense styrofoam so it fits snug. I can cut compartments for the things I need. Sounds like this will be a DIY job.

My method of adding mass to stock voids has been to line the void with an oversized plastic bag and then stuff the bag with lead shot, tamping it to make it relatively rigid inside the void.

Previously, I used a shot/resin mixture; but once it's in, it's usually not coming back out.

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure I was very clear. I know there are lots of ways to add weight. I was hoping someone offered some sort of "organizer" that would let me store the things I actually needed to keep on the rifle to allow me to add weight. I may just play around with the idea of an UBR.

Sounds like you need a piece of foam, of the type found inside gun cases. If you can't find a big enough piece to fill the stock and cut pockets into, you could use thinner layers and just stack them on top of each other using glue to hold them together.

You can use the shot resin mixture and keep it removable a few different ways. One would be line the void with thin plastic, and then either block off parts with a filler lined/covered with plastic and make your plug in the void thats left, or, line the void, fill the whole thing with a hardening but cutable/sandable foam, remove when hardened, cut and modify it to suit your needs, make a 2 piece mold to cast your plug in based on your foam plug, make yours and a few extras, and sell the extras to recoup what you spent making the things. Or make your original plug out of resin and lead and modify it to suit your needs. Its all in how much you want to put into it.

Thanks for all of the input. I'm planning on getting a piece of foam or dense styro-foam. I'll cut it to fit the opening and make it a 2+ piece mold. I'll stuff some shot or ignots/resin way back towards the pad to help with weight. I'll cut slots/holes etc in the front part near the lower attachment area to hold batteries and my papers. I'll look into some simple epoxy blends and casting resin. I may have some resin around the house from years ago.

Easier way might be to just find dense bars of some sort and cut slots in the foam. That would eliminate the need to epoxy anything in place. Could just slide them in and glue a "cap" if needed.
