Lapua brass. The thickness of the necks are .013. So .013 times two is .026 and then i add .308. This comes out to .334. I am using a .332 bushing. The wilson neck die only sizes a third to half of the neck. This is my first time using the wilson neck die. The part of the neck, closest to the shoulder, which doesnt get sized, appears to be bulging. I think that is just the way it looks but i wanted to ask if the round in the picture looks good? I used plenty of lube and the cases size easily. The bullets seat well also, not loose but not near as tight as a non bushing type die.

Thanks again for the help,
andy

Any reason why? Seems like unnecessary wear.

Note, as long as you are using the same rounds in the same rifle, then it should cause no problems.

If the brass was originally shot in a different rifle and then reloaded and shot in another rifle, it might cause problems chambering

It can be rifle dependent which method is better. I have 2 rifles that I leave about 1/3 of the neck unsized and it helps increase accuracy. The thought behind it is this(this is not an original thought on my part, I just try it on each rifle I load for and see what it likes):

A partially sized neck helps to act as a pilot and guide the cartridge as it sits in battery. It helps to decrease ammunition runout in the chamber and will aid in repeatability of the ammunition.

I have some rifles that like it, and some that hate it, YMMV with it.

It won't cause any pressure issues or lead to a dangerous problem though.

You are probably correct that this represents unnecessary wear. but it is only 0.002 in diameter, and I've been meaning to do soemthing about it, however, since I size in two steps (from 0.3445 to 0.338 and then to 0.332) It seems that leaving the lower neck at 0.3445 is unwise, and that if I size the lower neck to 0.338, its a little bigger than I would want anyways, so rather than add a third step.....

Overall, since I have not a fully thought out plan, I take the simple way out and just think about it without doing anything about it.

Re: does this look ok?

Not a problem till bolt starts getting tight.
Might just need a bump here or there then.
No seating mark from 332 bushing.
Wilson will leave a ring before Forester ultra seater.
Sounds just a tad thinner than my brass.

Most neck dies don't go all the way down.
Some fl dies do too much.

Nice looking load.

Re: does this look ok?

TCA4570, you are correct. They are a tad thinner because i turned the necks on that batch of lapua brass for shits and giggles. And also because the bushing i needed was on back order. So i turned the necks to fit the bushing.
