Rifle Scopes Dont know which scope mount/rings? any suggestions

My birthday and graduation is just around the corner and im treating myself to a new scope for my 300. wsm. I am ordering a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50mm and i cannot wait!!

My only issue here is i have no idea what the hell im doing when it comes to scope mounts and rings. I really need some help here. Scott from liberty optics told me about this ones;

Keep in mind i am still very young and need to save for school so money will be an issue. I can not dish out money for the best of the best but i dont want to cheap out either and get something that will HOPEFULLY HOLD UP. I want to feel like i made the right choice.

Please shed some light on this situation.

Shed some light on exactly what your upper budget is so we know what you have to work with.

Also you might want to look for used. It's not like quality rings wear out over time and there's some pretty good bargains to be found in the PX.

I have an EGW 20 MOA base and Burris XTRs on my Savage. Never had any issues at all, no loosening, etc. And at under $100 for the base and rings, they're a bargain.

its not like there is a budget really. i just dont want to be spending 100's of doolars i need every pennie i can get cause i need to save for school and more importantly, my montana ELK HUNT!!

I agree, the money spent on these is not wasted and they're going to do everything that the more expensive stuff does. It's hard to go wrong with these on a budget setup.

I'm a big fan of the Burris Signature Zee rings with the inserts. That's not to say the XTR rings aren't good too, I just really like the inserts and they have held up fine on everything I've used them on. Granted I've never had them on a .300WM, but I don't think you would have a problem.
