Sidearms & Scatterguns Double Tap Ammo

I haven't seen doubletap meet stated velocities on anything. close on a few but far away on lot of stuff. Had great results with underwood ammo and corbon

I shot a box of .308 DoubleTap 168g "Match" ammo out of my 1/2 MOA rifle and was getting 3" groups at 100 yards.

Edit: Was shooting 1/2" groups with Federal GM that day so it had to be the ammo.

I use buffalo bore for my 10mm as the local shop has a large supply of it. I have heard of some issues with the claims of double tap but I have never used any. I did intend on ordering some underwood to compare with buffalo bore but like anything else on the Internet, everything is out of stock with no projected data on availability.

I would definitely have to agree with some the members above concerning DT ammo. It isn't bad, but it isn't great either. I have personal shooting experience with DT, BB, Corbon, and Underwood. Of the 4 choices, Underwood is the most consistent, followed by BB, then Corbon, and finally DT. Now, as far as defensive situations go, any of them would stop a threat fairly quickly provided you do your part. However, I would need more info as to what you are inquiring about. Basically, performance-wise, I've found Underwood, Corbon, and BB to be neck and neck. They are all consistent loads in the calibers I have used them in (9mm, 40, 357 sig, and 45 auto). Underwood and BB typically at least exceed the stated velocities on the box. Corbon is right at the stated velocities on the box. DT has been all over the place, velocity-wise according to my chrony. Best bang for the buck is Underwood for 2 reasons...consistency and price. Underwood gives you a full box of 50 vs 20 for the others, except for DT. Most quality defensive rounds will do what is necessary and then some provided you do your part. All of these manufacturers are loading either Speer GD, Barnes XPB, or Hornady XTP. DT will sometimes load up some Montanas. All this said, I'd go Underwood if you want the real deal that is cost-effective. The only problem is that Kevin Underwood is having issues with having components in stock, as are other small batch manufacturers in the industry right now. Hope this has helped instead of muddying the waters for you.

I got some of the 230gr 10mm equalizer ammo, that is fun stuff on the range to make people scratch their heads when 2 holes show up with one shot. As far as practicality goes I have my mag alternating with the equalizer and 180gr nosler. no complaints from me, still smokes a .40sw.

Not a fan of Double Tap ammo. I paid more than I should have for a box in 9mm, and did not see much of a difference compared to Federal, Remington, or anything else that is much cheaper.

We have used it in 35 Whelens and 375 H&H with great success. Groups great and knocks the crap out of what it hits. Shooting 225 Accubonds in 35 and 260 Accubonds in 375. I have zero complaints and have recommended often. The hard cast bullet in my 10mm works wonders on pigs as well

When Doubletap first came on the scene, everything I got from them was FAST, up to or beyond spec. I shot a lot of their 10mm ammo, but starting about 5 years ago, suddenly all the loads that I usually used of theirs( 38 Super and 10mm) got very anemic. Like 200 fps or more LESS than advertised. I contacted the company, and got a lot of double talk, so I gave up on their ammo........

Double talk from double Tap!

Go for Underwood. Best quality to cost ratio in the business for the higher end handgun cartridges.

I am a 30 year Army soldier with a lot experience in firearms,
I purchase 2 boxes of 300 WSM 1-180g and 200g bullets. I very disappointed in the quality of the ammo. I contacted the company several times with no reply to my concerns. It appears they are not concerned about quality and after this chaos is over they will be looking for customers-count me out.

The double tap ammo I have, Ive shot very little of.
Ive got the 255gr hardcast, 185gr Nosler jhp, 230gr bonded and 185gr bonded
I got 3 20rd boxes for free so, Ill take some to the range next trip
and see how it does.....
