Re: Doug Turnbull AR

None for me, thanks!

Doug restored a Winchester 71 for me earlier this year, and did an awesome job. I've had the pleasure of chatting with him at the Dallas Safari Club show, and he's a great guy.

But a case colored AR with wood furniture?? That's like putting rails and a night vision device on a buffalo rifle.

ORD,

I figured somebody had to see it first. When I saw it there was 53 bids and it was already up to almost $11k.

Because they can! I think it's an awesome piece of work and if I had a couple million to spare I'd bid on this. And if I won it, it would go to the range the very first day it was in my hands.

The precise wrong use for titanium. It weighs almost 9# without optics. What a turd. </div></div>

I'll have to agree. If I want a 'statement piece' I want it to look good. Not like Picasso pissed on it.

With the change in format, I forgot to come back and give the final tally. The rifle sold for just over $136,000. Keeping in mind though, it was a charity gig.

And FWIW, I think rails and NV capability on a buffalo rifle might get me to get one and shoot it. At least the powder and primers are available. You can make your own bullets.
