After looking through all the areas this seems to be the best place for this post....so I hope I got it right

After alot of research about all I can find is dovetail based scope mounts/rings for .22.
I found some that do not say specifically for .22 only but appear to be the same as airgun and .22 stuff.

I think they could handle a 7.62 x 54r, some of the heavier looking ones, but not 100% sure.

What is everyone else's take on this? Anyone see any dovetail based rings/mounts that are meant to take on .308 type recoil?
Thanks.

Look at some Euro rifles. Its rather common across the pond but consider that Weaver and Picatinny were both products of the US and are rooted as such.

AI, Sako, Sig, Styer, Blazer to name just a few utilize dovetail mounts and offer correspondibg rings. Note many rings incorpotate some sort of recoil lug as well.

Just remembered Ruger uses a dovetail (with recoil lug) too.

Re: Dovetail rings that handle more than .22 recoil??

There is a big difference betwen different mounting systems like the 11mm for AI and the 17mm for the TRG and Tikka T3.
The Sauer do also have an 11mm system but that is an awkvard thing that is really intended for peepsight and thus not works well with normal mounts.

So the only 11mm mounts I know of for serious guns are AI own mount and ours. There might very well be more of them, but not that I am avare of.

Here is our solution for AI. (works a number of .22 rifles to.)

here is underside of out Sauer mount.
Needs to be mounted both on the rail and also by using the screws in the front of the mount.

Thanks Zero Six. Great info, its a Euro rifle so I figured most options would be from over the pond.

Thank you Håkan. That is a machinist work of art, very nice mount!

Another 11mm mount is the Tikka Optilock qd railmount for the Valmet 412/Tikka 512 double rifle/shotgun/combination gun. All Sako TRG rings fit this base. The mount is designed to be stable on a 7 ibs 12-3" shotgun or 9.3x74r double rifle.

Thanks TorF so true.....why did I not think of that. Forgot some older shotguns have dovetail, and the 12 kick about as hard as anything would.
