DPMS LR308 bad lever ( Battery assist lever )

I can not operate my .308 DPMS without a Travis's/ magpul's B.A.D. lever.

Anyone making a quality lever for DPMS .308's?

That stupid little lever has changed my (tactical) life.

As an Instructor, I tell everyone how important it really is.
Then when I go out to wack the pig's (hog's in so.Fla.) with my .308, I just fumble around.

Anyone who removes their hand from fire control to operate your .223/ .556 is just silly. (lazy or cheap)

I am confused, why would you remove your firing hand from the 'fire control' to change mags? The only time you might use that lever is on initial loading or if you let the weapon run dry before changing mags. I was taught to use the same hand I slammed the new mag home with to smack the side of the reciever and send the bolt home.

Things change I guess.

one thing i noticed was that the recessed area on the DPMS upper is tight around the stock bolt catch compared to some of the others that are out there

and mega is alot more generous

You normally would not remove your hand from fire control to change mags.
Just if you want to lock the bolt back or let it slam forward.

If your a cop or active duty you probably can operate the rifle ok without a B.A.D lever.
Once you use an extended bolt release you kindve realize what you have been missing.

(Kindve like turbo chargers on car's.)

The v2 one on the site is designed to work with the recessed DPMS style.

The Phase 5 Tactical EBR is a nice setup also and works the same as the Magpul but looks a little better and run about $53

i like the idea, but everything 308 is 2x the money right now it seems. $50 ambi this, $50 ambi that. thats $100 i can spend on varget in my mind. i want to dress it up a little but if i got a guy to TIG a BAD to the stock catch id be under $50. im looking at the phase 5 and does it look like that catch may be stock with the lever bonded (weld, solder) thru that hole in the center? i dont want to be the guinea pig for $55. any reviews? chatter? talk? intel? gossip even?

Yes Ram it will work on the AR10,


Axe its like the old saying,speed cost money how fast you want to go.

If something cost alittle more and works and one day might save my life because seconds count its worth it for that SHTF scenario.I no having a bad gun habit and not alot of cash to get your fix on blows,sometimes I think it would be cheaper to be hooked on crack.

its more the new & improved aspect of stuff. look how many new 308 upper/lowers are coming out. some of the upper/lowers i have tried were built by their designers with what they thought were better specs or improvements over whats a standard (DPMS) dimension that i found caused me problems with parts i chose or gave me concerns about fit and possible function issues. everybody has a good idea to market, im all for that. its not the $$ i mind spending, but its more that its all new and untested. two or three months ago there was nothing for the 308 in this bolt catch area. i found a simple $20 ambi safety and then i see that BAD ambi safety for $50. i bet one will pop up for $75 or a hundred that will be even more fabulous, lol. im sure its all good stuff either way. but i just have a plain safety and its good so far, lol. so if i do nothing im saving $20 or $50 bucks. its just like a car. you buy a little this and a little that. first a winch, then poly rope. first an ARB locker, then onboard air and welder.

Yeah I'm all about keep it simple and I'm tracking with ya just wait till after SHOT then the madness will keep going.

Don't get me started on the 4x4 stuff I just picked up a 87 Jimmy and now need to out fit it with all the goodie's...HEHE!!!

If I was to hazard a guess I'd say its best use is to trim that half second off swapping out a run dry mag during a match.

Not sure it is to AR platforms like a turbocharger is to a car, might be closer to say its like a bolt-on shift kit. Wonder why they dont just make a solid replacement for the entire bolt catch? It would be a rather easy pull and replace.

But it does score mucho del points in the LCCDI factor and that alone might be worth the asking price for alot of AR owners.

I had the same question for mine as I'm changing DPMS from a precision rig to a carbine. I thought about increasing the recess in the receiver so I can attach the BAD then I was pointed towards the EBR V2 (which has it welded to a catch. So you'll have to replace the catch). Haven't gotten one yet so I don't know if that would work.

fyi i am revising prior opinion on this, after field test wth my pof 308 and the phase5tactical ebrv2/308. i bought the EBRv2/308 and installed it as per instructions, it functions but <span style="text-decoration: underline">very poorly-creates an unsafe condition</span>. specifically, it will grab and hold the bolt back but internal part [replacing the pof internal part] is made such that the bolt slips very easily releasing the bolt prematurely. i found that the slightest motion of the gun [rotate it, tap the stock, etc] will cause the bolt to fall prematurely without touching the EBRv2. it obviously is not the right specs for a pof 308. i reinstalled the pof 308 factory part and the gun functioned perfectly. i recently emailed [email protected] three days ago aksing if the version 1 would work better or not and if not if i could get a refund, no reply yet.

update on my experience with the phase5tactical ebrv2/308 with my pof 308. i got a call today from the owner of the company and we discussed the issue. very nice guy, very interested in getting things right. he was happy to give me a refund. instead, for now, i am going to try to work with him to see if he can modify the part to fit/function well in the pof 308. he advised the part is made off of dpms specs. the part is beautifully made, however it seems not for the precise pof308 specs so it slips/the bolt slips off of it. i sent him several pics tonight of the pof part out of and in the gun as well as pics of the wear marks on the ebrv2/308 and he is going to to see if he can make a new part to fit the p308. while the pof308 has the ambi bolt release i plan to use the b.a.d. to grab the bolt so i dont have to charge the bolt with an empty mag in the gun. be back soon.

Ordered on of the last week and installed it Fri night before Woody's DMR match. Works exactly like my Magpul BAD lever for my JP-15. Very sturdy and well made product! It makes "unload and show clear" SO much easier.

interesting results to report from working with phase 5 tactical, it turns out pof uses a 223 part [bolt catch]in the current pof 308 version [before the recent stock modification for large scopes] so that the phase 5 tactical b.a.d. made for 223 works perfectly in my pof 308. go figure! all set now and using the phase 5 b.a.d. with no problems.

I put the Phase 5 on my DPMS LR308 but it is too close to the trigger, esp since I run a Giessle which is a little more forward than stock. Not sure why its made this way; plenty of room to have it closer to the front of the trigger guard. I may just bend it, or otherwise mod it, or send it back. Works fine, its just in the dang way...

I just installed the Phase 5 V2 lever on my LaRue OBR .308. Functions flawlessly so far, not much play in the lever as others have described. It does sit farther back in the trigger guard than the magpul AR-15 version though. It doesnt bother me though. It is definately a PITA to lock the bolt back to clear the weapon with a standard catch. I am enjoying it already, but I still need to get it to the range and test it out for function under live fire.
