I am researching what would be the most stable forearm for my new LR260/308 with the 24" SS bbl. I need a flush cup on the left side, a short rail on the bottom for my Atlas, and would like a rail on the bottom about half way for an angled fore grip. The rifle will be used for long range precision matches and steel plinking. I am concerned about loading the bipod on the ground and against barriers. I like the lighter modular styles of Midwest or Troy but am concerned with the strength of the 2 piece designs torquing. I like the attachment of the factory quadrails and the DD 7.62 lite rails but am concerned with the weight.
I will carry the extra weight if it means the forend is rock solid, but are my concerns with the 2 piece clamp on designs unfounded? Real world experience please.
