I bought a SASS 2 years ago, and I've NEVER gotten it to shoot better than 1.5 MOA for a group of 5 or more, at any range. I broke it in according to the DPMS directions (which was excruciating). I've tried FGMM, Hornady 168 Match, and many different loads of my own using 4895, 4064, Varget and RL15 with 168smk, 175smk and 180smk. I've had 2 or 3 different optics on it, with 2 or 3 different mounts. I've also had several friends who are good (not USMC snipers, but good) shoot it with the same results as me. I can shoot .5 MOA or better with my bolt gun.

I finally sent it in to DPMS a couple months ago, and I JUST got the accuracy report back - shoots .6 MOA (3 shot group) for them with Hornady Match. .7 with FGMM. Haven't received the rifle back yet, but....

Do you think I just can't shoot it worth a damn (somehow I can shoot a bolt gun, but not a gas gun), or that DPMS just didn't want to fix it? </div></div>

That sounds strange. The gun should preform. I would retest it when you get it back.

Could it be your optics?

It could be a lot of different things. When you get it back post up some pictures of your targets and the kind of ammunition you are using.

Will do. On another forum, guys believe gas guns are harder to shoot than bolt guns - any truth to this?

That's a good looking rig. I hope my rig shoots that well when my 175smk's show up from saw that everybody speaks so highly of.

Yes i did change the grip out to a ergo suregrip, i just sold the stock grip, sites, and jp trigger, and ordered a new geissele SD-E trigger, i think with a better trigger groups will get much better, the jp was harder than i like in a trigger, ill post more groups soon, my trigger should be in sat. As far as my sass has been great, i couldnt ask for better for the money spent.

Re: My new rig! pics

Well went out and shot today heres the results, this is 175smks, 100 rounds down the tube so far, i love the new trigger, 1st group to the left was me holding tight on the gun and it didnt like that, 2nd and 3rd groups were holding more relaxed on the gun and went much better.175smk 2.80oal 45grains varget winchester brass, cci 200 primers, i cant tell much difference so far between the 168 and 175's group wise, it seems to shoot both good!
