DRACOS barrels ?

I've got one on order that will be here later this week. I'll post more next week or two after I get it up and running. A couple of other guys have posted about then on here but not a lot of posts following up on longer term use. I'm sure someone will come in sooner or later.

At SHOT, they said there was a military procurement guy at the show who has seen 30k rounds on a 300WM Dracos barrel.

They said if you buy one, they want you to try to shoot it out and let them know how many rounds it took.

These the ones who will lifetime warranty a barrel? Last time i remember looking, they hadn't officially come to market w/ anything bolt action right?

yes let us know how it does maybe some pics of groups also

I shot a falkor 300win mag with a dracos barrel. Was cheap ammo, wasn't a very good group. Better ammo tightened up, but nothing spectacular.

I am intrigued about how they hold up and the lifetime warranty.

Will DEFINITELY be posting full review with multiple pics of barrel/install and groups following some development.

FWIW, I just got off a call with Dracos (Falkor Defense) to address some questions about their system. The sales rep, Jacob, was pretty knowledgeable but a few of my questions were just beyond his comfort zone and rather than guessing or BS'ing an answer, he transferred me to one of their gunsmiths. David was VERY helpful, even going so far as to measure several datum points to verify fitment without any hesitation.

There were a few points that I received clarification on:

Warranty: it's a 100% lifetime warranty on functionality AND sub-MOA accuracy for the life of the barrel. When asked about throat erosion and heat checking, he said that is covered by their warranty. Meaning if any issues cause barrel to shoot over at or over 1MOA, they will replace the barrel.

Twist Rate: their website says the 6.5 CM is a 1:9 twist HOWEVER this is a typo on their site. All 6.5 CM Dracos barrels have a 1:8 twist. This was great news as I had resigned to using 123's to help stability.

Accuracy expectations: I asked one of their gunsmiths about accuracy expectations. While officially they hold a sub-MOA warranty/claim, I asked what accuracy I could reasonably expect given his experience. He said the 6.5CM has proven to be the most accurate caliber in their lineup and has regularly built and tested rifles producing .2 and .3 inch groups from their barrels. So sub-half MOA is not an unreasonable goal with good shooter and ammo.

Adjustable gas key required? No. The gunsmith said he has tuned several rifles using combination of springs and heavier buffers. While this approach is not as infinitely adjustable as a AGK, the gas flow at the tube will be the same in either system, which still vents at the bolt face. The dwell time adjustment on the barrel is specifically designed to help bolt release timing.

Honestly, I'm thoroughly impressed with their willingness to answer detailed questions without BS or guessing. It's a relatively new company but they seem to have their priorities correct in putting customer first.

If the barrel performs better than or near consistent ~.5 MOA with stable SD and ES, I would have a hard time understanding why to choose any other system given the lifetime warranty. Proof will be in the bullet though so I'm reserving any decisions until after I get hands on with 300-500 rounds. A few good groups do not make a great barrel... Consistency for a given group size amd POI does. I'll be running tests both unsuppressed and suppressed (will be a few months before my can arrives though).

Full write up to come in new thread and will post link here when up.

So you're buying directly from dracos? This is for a semi auto rifle, but any news on a bolt action variety?
since this thread is in the bolt action subset.

Yes directly from Dracos; I didn't get any info on bolt barrels other than they are starting to ship; not sure why they aren't up on there site. Still a bit confused on the relationship between Falkor and Dracos. They are sister companies (per sales rep) but he didn't say specifically whether Falkor or Drakos would be handling sales for bolt applications.

I'll be posting review in Semi-auto and Gunsmith sections (maybe there is a better section?) but I thought it was relevant for feedback here given that OP posted simply to ask if barrels were any good. Not a lot of guys posting on these barrels yet.
