i recommend eberlestock ... but in both cases i would like to have old-fashioned buttons in addition to the zipper. those buttons on the tac-ops don't look as if you could open them without a 'plob'.

Tac Ops is the best for sure, but Midway makes a nice bag for the price also and is similar in style to the Tac Ops.

There are also some things such as the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">included Shooting Mat</span></span> the fully-padded muzzle protector, and a pocket and routing slits for a hydration bladder that the Eberlestock doesn't have. Personally, I place a premium on protecting the crown on a precision rifle so the Tac Ops's protective muzzle sleeve is very nice, as well as a dedicated shooting mat. While the Eberlestock can be folded-out and used as a shooting mat it's not even close to being the same as having a dedicated mat.

I've never used a hybrid case that didn't feel "lumpy". Grimlocks, zippers, and pockets full of gear all make their presence known. Maybe I'm getting old, but even backpacking in my teens and 20s' I never enjoyed the feel of dozens of rocks and sticks poking up at me from below. I put up with those rocks, sticks and twigs because I had to, not because I enjoyed it.

To be fair, the Eberlestock DB does have some features that the Tac Ops DB doesn't have that could come in handy, such as additional Molle inside the bag, the large padded "flap" that can be placed between the primary weapon and a secondary weapon, and a removable hip belt. I actually own an Eberlestock - a Gunslingler II, in addition to my Tac Ops Drag Bags. I selected them for different situations and both have their own merits. As far as drag bags go, for my use the Tac Ops DB is superior to the Eberlestock DB.

Keith</div></div> Midway 600 denier Asian imitation vs. TacOps 1000 Denier Cordura? No doubt in my mind what I'm putting my money into. From someone who's done some dragging of a bag, you need the toughest material available if you expect it to last.

I have an Eberlestock bag, it's nice but my next will be a TacOps.

How well suited would the tac ops be for an LMT MWS - 16 inch barrel?

I was considering something like the Eagle case mat combo but that item doesnt seem to exist anymore except as a teaser Natchez keeps in their catalog.

I already have a nice Cross-Tac type mat. The Spec Ops bag looks like it will really protect a rifle well. I'm leaning more toward the special purpose tool now rather than a jack of all trades.

In fact, and this <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">exact question</span></span> has been asked and answered several times in DB threads where Tac Ops is mentioned (as well as in PMs' to me here on the SH). The Tac Ops SHORT DB is plenty long enough to carry your rifle, but if you want to hear answers from members who carry AR-type weapons in Tac Ops Drag Bags I suggest that you use the <span style="font-style: italic">"Search"</span> function. It works quite well when specific criteria is entered.

Eagle seems to be having more and more of it's products sewn in the Dominican Republic these days, so it's possible that is part of the availability equation.

Yeah, they cost more, but I don't regret having purchased mine. It is almost literally "bullet-proof", and all that have seen it are impressed with the materials, features, construction, and workmanship.

Stay away from ching-chong knockoffs - they are knockoffs, not the "real deal".

Thank you for the reply. I'm guilty as charged - a lazy non search function slug.

I dont see much looking better as far as construction goes and I am very interested. I doubt I would see much to recommend against using an AR with this bag.

The Eagle item I was interested in was a larger item the HSRC

Last I had checked they were no longer being made by Eagle.

Cross-Tacs shooting pad is just a 4 panel folding item - kind of big makes you look like a Pilates training person but it is really nice as long as you are only packing it a short distance from the truck to the firing line. I already carry rifle, scope, scope stand, ammo, targets etc. I was hoping to combine bag/mat to eliminate one item of gear. I've been burned before trying to get one item to do the job of two.

Below is a picture I stole from <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Rob01</span></span> of a 20" GAP 10 sitting in a Tac Ops Drag Bag. You'd have to contact Rob to confirm, but from the looks of it the GAP 10 is sitting in a "LONG" DB. If the DB in this photo is a "LONG" Bag, a TO "SHORT" DB should work well for your 16" MWS.

I'm gussing your photo shows me a 20 inch barrel GAP-10 that fits with some room to spare in the large bag? My future plans may include an 18" barrel and a PRS. I'll try to buy for future needs.

Roger that, as I don't have an AR 10 type weapon to try in a Tac Ops DB. However, for anything else Tac Ops Mike Rescigno himself or I would be the ones to ask if you want correct info about anything Tac Ops. I tend to answer questions for him here, as he isn't on the Hide' much (he's busy building rifles and suppressors like he should be). I can usually answer Tac Ops questions because of my knowledge about them, unless it's confidential in which case I would tell you that.

just received my midwayusa 56 inch. very pleased for the price. seems to be well built. i doubt i will push it to its limits.
