So, a rare weekend off, a beautiful afternoon on the back deck, having fun drinking with my princess. Shooting tequila and comparing drinking toasts/salud from around the world.
I’ll start:
Australia: He’s a pisspot, he’s true blue. He’s an asshole so they say. Said he’s going to heaven, but he’s going the other way. Sinking down, down, down...
Mexican: Pa’ arriba, pa’ abajo, pal el centro y pa’ dentro (up, down, center, in)
Irish: To our wives and girlfriends, may they never meet.
What ya got?

German: Prost/Prosit/Zum wohl
Scandinavia: Skaal
Russian: Za zdaróvye
Hungarian: Egészségedre/Fenékig
Greek: Stin ygeía sou
Xhosa: Masinwabe
Maori: Mauri ora

Irish; Sláinte.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Actually, we used to say, "...the small of His hand...".

Swedish/Scandinavian; Skål.

And now, I'm out of ancestors to quote...

As my Eldest Brother used to say, we're Irish Swedes...

That was then, this is now. I'm an American.
