I hope to get out and get this thing sighted in tomorrow. Some days the real world just messes up all your fun huh?...LOL.

Love the balance of this thing, converting 2nd SRS into this was the right move.

I love that Aadmount on it with my IOR 2.5-10 FFP.

Re: DTA Covert

Joe, I am tempted to send in the other one and do it to it too. But I know I need to leave it as an SRS for the 338 barrel. I am thinkinga about dismounting one of the 338 conversion barrels and thread on a 510 Whisper to just play with one. I won't ever buy a 50BMG but a Whisper I could deal with if nothing else to see how bad it recoils....LOL.

Re: DTA Covert

Looks great.

I would love to see an SRS offered one day, that had the ability to easily swap out the hand guard. That way an SRS owner could use the longer hand guard with the .338 and then convert the SRS to a covert for the .308.

Re: DTA Covert

Very nice looking rig! It's an interesting change from my factory Covert in "Urban Camo" (black). As Ewen stated, there shouldn't be a problem running a 338 conversion in the shorter chassis as long as the barrel extension is compatible with that of the chassis. I have a "standard" SRS 22" 11-twist barrel that I run in my Covert chassis along with the 16" on a regular basis. However, DTA prepared the 22" barrel for me with the newer barrel extension used on the Covert barrels, which has an indented section for alignment, rather than the slot/pin type alignment system. If that is the reason for not being able to use the 338 barrel, it might be possible for DTA to replace the barrel extension, but I don't know whether that is an option or not. Anyhow, good luck with it and enjoy shooting it!

Re: DTA Covert

HI Guys, it is not a problem to have any calibre in either chassis.

You just need to make sure that the barrel exension is compatible when ordering.

You CAN, and I do run a .338 in the covert.

Hope that helps.

Ewen

Re: DTA Covert

Have seen a lot in the press lately on these guns and thinking of selling my 20" Sako to get one. Looks like his prices went up a little from last year and imagine that may be the case if the gun is selected by SOCOM as well. Neat design though and I like the ability to change calibers.
