Just finished a series of DTA barrels and wanted to share this build. While it is not extremely pleasing to the eye, it is a very functional rifle. Here are the specs.

DTA SRS chassis, Rev 2. Black/Black
Proof Research carbon wrapped barrel, 338 cal, 1-9.4" twist.
Chambered to 338 LM, throated for 250-300's.
Cut to 26" and threaded 3/4 x 24 with custom thread protector.
Graphite black metal.

This barrel alone weighs 4.07 lbs. That is about 1.75 lbs lighter than a comparable SAC/DTA barrel.

For optics, we have a Hensoldt SSG-P 3-12-56 with a built in turret elevation indicator which is very cool!!! It also has a built in quick release mount. Best glass my eyes have ever looked through. This scope would be a left handed shooters dream, all the controls are on the right side. AA battery powered illumination....just a cool scope!

Again, not the prettiest thing in town, but its light and has great optics. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for looking.

Mark

Re: DTA from outter space.

So how much does it cost to get a Proof barrel for the DTA made?

And have you received the new DTA bolts yet? I called them and they told me one of their lathes had broken so they were running behind.

Re: DTA from outter space.

I have not had time to shoot this barrel yet, however I have talked to many Proof customers who are very happy. I believe its a Rock barrel. It should shoot great!

The barrel is around the $900 range as a blank. So the cost of a completed DTA barrel is around $1920. Weight of the barrel is only 4 lbs. Same weight as a DTA 308 22" barrel.

Counter acts spin drift, old trick.......

Looks like the rifle is canted, you can only mount the optics one way with the integral base.

Because the whole rifle is canted. The LRA bipod can rotate side to side and I just did not level the rifle while I was taking pictures. One heck of a berm huh?
