Guys, I have the gun (DTA SRS), And the scope is on order. I am wondering if someone can help me determine a good 1 peice ring and base like the SPuhr

Here is the scope I ordered,
Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56Riflescope w/ EBR-2C
Vortex Optics - Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56 EBR-2C<br />(MRAD)

the gun is in .338 Lapua and will eventually be sporting a 6.5 CM setup also.

Which mount would I need to clear the bell and get the center line up high enough to be able to look through.
I have the gen 2 chassis with no adjustable cheek riser.

I know there is a Huge Thread on the srs but I am at work and dont have time to read it all. I am trying to get something ordered asap for when my scope arrives.

I'm currently running the SP-4602 (1.46" high) with a 50mm objective and plenty of clearance. The DTA HTI mount states that it will work with up to 56mm objectives and is 1.50" high. So if the DTA actually will clear a 56mm objective then the Spuhr you would need would probably be the SP-4603B. I can't verify this as I have no first hand experience with the scope in question but by running the numbers any of the 3 mounts should work for you.

Both Spuhr mounts listed are of the 6mil/20.6moa cant variety. Hope this helps!

The DTA mount has a built in bubble level, is made from the same material as the chassis, and is designed to work with the rifle. They will clear 56mm scopes easily, and we have them in stock! I'd recommend the 40MOA slope.

Although I like the Spuhr on my rifle I do wish I had went with the HTI mount since it's made by DTA.

I have a Spuhr SP-4802 and wish DTA made the HTI mount when I was in the market. Honestly the only advantage I can see to the Spuhr is if you want to hang stuff off of the mount. Even then the price goes higher with the mounts.

If you look at the SPUHR mount (SP-4802) + angle cant indicator mount (A-0023) + angle cant indicator (ACI-LH) + Brownell's Rosin = 410 + 60 + 170 +25 = $665
If you look at the DTA 40moa mount + NF cosine angle indicator = 370 + 160 = $530

Both setups will hold your scope securely, tell you whether you're canted, or shooting up/downhill. Is the Spuhr cool looking? Oh hell yes. Is that look worth the additional cost? Only you can determine that.

You don't need rosin. Spuhr makes an excellent mount. Its not cheap, but if you are after a really nice one piece mount it will serve you well. The leveling system is so simple its funny. If you have any desire to add accessories later you can do so easily without adding additional rings to the scope tube. I don't have any experience with the DTA mounts. If you want a QD option then the GDI Mounts are also excellent. If you just want the mount without the extras I would look at a Nightforce also as they run about 250.

The reason I know that is I mounted my SB in an SP4802 without rosin to 15 in-lbs as directed with my Borka Torque wrench. The first trip to the range my scope slipped, scratching the tube. I figured I screwed up so again I mounted it again to 15 in-lbs. Second trip it slipped again, scratching more. I PMed Hakan on here and he directed me to that clause in the directions. Since then I have used the rosin with no slippage at 15 in-lbs.

Honestly I thought the mount would not require the rosin, but I was mistaken. The good news is the scope still tracks and functions perfectly!

Mine wasn't the mount involved in that thread. I still have the mount because it does it's job when I'm using the rosin so not a big deal. I'm sure Mile High would've taken care of it (I bought it from them and they were very helpful), but it wasn't their fault.

I know a lot of people have had success using the Spuhr mounts without rosin and more power to them. However the directions suggest its use and if your scope does slip, that will be the direction you'll be pointed in. While I have zero intention of selling the scope, others might and scratches dimish the resale value. If I can help some guys avoid a $200-250 scratch by making them aware of the potential issue, I will. I even gave out samples to Spuhr owners that asked (you only need a tiny bit) so they wouldn't have to buy a pound of rosin.

BTW, the scope currently sits in a Spuhr SP4802 with rosin and rings torqued to 15 in-lbs. It's been like that for about two years with no slipping.

How much gap do you have between the mount and ring caps? I'm just curious since the rosin thing should be more than unnecessary, as with traditional rings, unless the gap is not sufficient to produce clamping force when torqued.

You are a better man than I, if my scope slipped and rosin was the answer I'd sell it in an instant. There is no reason a 400 dollar mount can't do what a 150 dollar set of rings can.

The American Rifle Company M10 QDL mount is an option Euro optic sells them but the max 30 moa cant may not be what you want. Mike

I completely agree that the rosin *should* be unnecessary on a precision mount more than $400. I've used Leupold Mark IV, Nightforce, Seekins, Badger, ADM, and IOR V-Tac rings/mounts on 22lr, 223, 308, and 50BMG rifles. None of them required lapping, rosin, etc.

The gap is smaller than my rings but there is one. I'm not getting rid of it for a few reasons:
1- If the mount is defective, I don't want someone else to scratch up their scope
2- It has been working fine for two years so water under the bridge
3- There's no way I can get my money out of it (though if anyone wants to trade straight-up... I'd include rosin of course, haha)

My path forward is to buy other mounts/rings, give away rosin as people ask, and shoot the hell out of it!

By the way if anyone is wondering, the rifle is a DTA SRS 308win 22" and brake. I also have always used blue loctite on the ring screw threads.

You are correct in that I am assuming that my mount and Pleistarchus's mounts are out of spec. I am basing this on the following:
1- I had no issues mounting this same scope in a set of Seekins 34mm Low rings
2- Others using identical scopes, mounts, and methods as myself do not have the same issue of their scopes slipping

Instead you keep your out of spec mount and keep offering up your experience as though its normal when it isn't.

You don't need rosin because two guys out of countless with Spuhr mounts had a bad experience with a mount especially when one of the guys even admits the mount was probably out of spec.

That is me. I apologize and eat crow. I forgot I had said that I believed the mount to be out of spec. That comment was based on 99% of Spuhr owners doing what I did with no issues. If I made it out to be that my experience was the norm, I also apologize for offending/misleading anyone reading this thread.

However if anyone reading this thread has a Spuhr and feels like they want to put rosin on their scope/mount to follow the directions 100%, PM me your address and I'll mail some to you.

I have two DTA SRS A1s and run the 30 MOA old DTA mounts with Accuracy 1st level on both and works get with all barrel conversions and with scopes up to 56 mm objectives.

I was fortunate to be able to pick these up a couple of weeks ago. ERA-TAC QD mount from Recknagel out of Germany. They've been around for a while but never popular here in the US. Eurooptics just added them to their website including the Inclination mounts they launched at Shot. Very well made and engineered. No Rosin or blue loctite needed here. Worth taking a look.

What scope are you running with the 4802? I am looking at the exact same mount and wonder if it will clear a 56mm obj on a dta? Thank you, Greg

I am running a SP-4803B 40 moa on a DTA, it will just clear a 56mm objective but its close. Pic is a 50mm objective

Everything DT makes is good to go, IMHO - I just happen to like SPUHR
Once I stepped outside the gas station bargain sales on guns I quit worrying about cost and bought what I liked
just picked up the angle indicators and mounts the other day
oh yes, torqued 15"# and no slipping of the scopes, running both at times with heavy 338L loads
I always mark their positions

ATACR is in a 4602
NF 42mm in a 3602

Perfect height for my cheek weld requirement and ATACR just clears when running sunshade
