Don't know if I'm posting in the right place.
After watching the finale to ATS (don't flame me plz)
I thought it would be a neat idea to make a dueling tree.
I have searched here (1st thing I did) and then googled about 16 pages of junk and never came up with what I was looking for.
I was wondering what the back of one looked like, how the plates attached. I did find one site that had a side view of their plates and that looked promising.
Has anyone made a dueling tree before or has some pics of the "mechanics"?
Thanks,
Sean

Re: Dueling Tree ideas???

Thnx shootist, He's got some nice lookin stuff.
Boltipper, I agrea with the more realistic trainer (even though I'm not training for anything) other than my own pleasure and trying to be the best shot that I can be.
Just looking to make one to plink around with on some pistols and maybe take it out to a few hundred yards and try nailing it with rifles.
I just got my first (real) stick put together and trying to get the fundamentals down.
I did find this patent drawing that really helped me out on figureing the back of it and how the plates would attach.
I might ask one of the hide venders who make plates to run me some 6 inchers like this and go from there.

10/22's with iron sights right????
jmorris, I really like that thanks for posting.
looks like 3/8"??? Did you twist the steel yourself? any heat treating afterwards? 500 or mild?
I like how it leans forward to make sure the plates reset.
