Happy afternoon at the range today, took my new to me 308 out, zeroed the freshly mounted scope and shot a couple of nice groups. Yay!

Last time I was at the range I was really unhappy with the way my brand new 8yo 308 BDL 700 VLS shot. TO change that I made some changes. Freshly mounted it in a B&C A2 and replaced the Leupy rings and base with a 20 MOA rail and XTR rings.

Well after a very frustrating dozen rounds it finally occurred to me why the hell I wasn't even on the target stand at 50 yds..... DUH! 20 MOA, yea, oops

So dial in the 20 MOA for the base and wundurbar, on the paper.

So, for the next guy, if you put on a 20MOA base, go ahead and crank it into your scope and save yourself some frustration and barrel wear.

(Oh yea, it shoots way better, not sure if it was the mount or the stock but it's a different rifle)

I've never had a problem before, and never owned a bore sighter, never saw the need. I've mounted any number of scopes over the yrs. This time it was just building in an extra 20MOA that I forgot to allow for.

Just look through the bore and dial the crosshairs down to the target. I can usually get on pretty quick that way. Low tech is sometimes the way to go.

After the first couple of rounds I was going to try that but the stock on the B&C A2 is high enough that it's really hard to get your eye aligned with the bore.
