Dumass mistake, used 260 x die on my 308 brass.

I am just getting into the 260 rem caliber, have a Rifle at LRI getting the works done to it. In the mean time I ordered x dies for 223, 308and 260. Well today I grabbed the wrong die and sized 100 308 cases to 260 Rem, are these cases salvageable back to 308 or can I complete the re size to 260 Remington?

Ha! All that work.... I'd probably anneal them and run them back thru the 308 die. Bet you won't do that again huh!

P7, Thats funny!!! At the price of brass, I would use them, one way or another. I would probably leave them as 260's now, and save the work, and work hardning that will happen. Lightman

there was alchohol involved. press feels a lil stiff tonight. if ya leave em 260 your prob going to have to dress the necks up. ive read on 308 to 260 conversion, its more than just runnin em through the 260 die. think there was neck turning involved. there are post here with the steps exact

Thanks for the responses, I think I ill leave tham as 260 and try them out once I get my LRI build in hand. No , no alcohol involved, straight up dumass mistake, I never drink around guns or gun goodies.

Check with your smith and see if he is using the Lapua brass .260 reamer.

For the Lapua reamer confirm your brass neck thickness is .015” or less, and if he used the .260 match reamer .0135” or less.

That's in the same category as shooting someone else's target. Only 2 kinds of shooters; It's " those that have done it, and those that will eventually do it" . At least it's behind you now, you may never do it again.

I just did the same thing last week with some 6.5x47 brass to 6x47. I opened them back up because I had plenty of 6x47 brass but am a little low on 6.5

Get a K&M neck expander. $15 or so. You'll have another use for it in the future...dented necks for instance.

I re-sized it back to 308, loaded it with some 175 smk's and 43 gr of varget, I did notice that the neck tension was way more consistent.

Better than me, after shooting for 8 hrs sat I ran 50pcs of 260 LAPUA brass through my 338 die....sometimes shit happens when your tired lol

Nah you won't get no free pass from me. 5 cases...yeah that is a mistake, 10 cases is careless, 100 cases without stopping? Sell your shit and buy factory ammo before you get yourself killed. Reloading is not for the careless.
