Haven't seen it or read the books but my daughters are fans, though critical in the typical ways; where the books differ from the film, choices of the characters and the actors who play them.
I agree about the dystopic nature of our society and the death cult that has so infected it coupled with the insistence, by those who profit from it and those too stupid or overwrought to reason, that we should accept the placement of blame on inanimate objects and the wholesale violation of an actual constitutional right (The 2nd amendment) in furtherance of their delusional solution to the problem.
Meanwhile the dystopic-nihilist-neolectuals (Cross between Neanderthal and pseudo intellectuals) movement steam rolls forward.
After all while surely the founders never envisioned automatic weapons (Actually, there were already incredibly advanced prototype, weapons even in 1781, that would be years in the development), they clearly provided for 1.3 million abortions/year, euthanizing the inconveniently ill, government subsidy of all things anal, millions of people flooding across the borders to vote multiple times 9each) and the lofty position of the press to be tortured into an inflexible tool of one political party.

We're more moving along the lines of "1984" or "TXH1138" or some other totalitarian form of gov. masquerading as a democracy. It things don't change, drastically, I don't see a stable future for this country. All governments have failed, ALL of them. What makes this one any different? They all do bad and immoral shit to benefit themselves at the cost of the population, who eventually have enough and to fight back. Peacefully at first, but all means necessary if that doesn't work.

Regarding people making historical references being fools, you'd better rethink that one pretty fast. Human nature NEVER changes, and the past has repeated itself century after century ever since man has recorded history. There will always be people who crave power and will do anything to get it. There's LOTS of historical precedent for it, and it is repeating itself, YET again, right before our eyes and it is exactly the same thing that has happened in the past, and was so accurately predicted by figures from the past who had experienced it before. If you intended to say that no one knows exactly where we're headed, or what the best solutions are, because of how all the new technology changes things then I might be inclined to agree. But if you want to say, as you seem to, that we should ignore the lessons of the past regarding the rise of tyranny, then you are the one being foolish. Ignore their strategies at your own peril.

That’s kind of the point of a “Hide” -concealment and protection from return fire are the ideal characteristics for one, no? It would be inconducive to longevity if one were to choose other than the best option available. His range of fire coverage looks limited, but we can’t really know what he’s trying to cover. He may see all he needs to see.
It’s fucky cause you can’t fit a rifle in those gaps. They are only 1-2 inches at most I believe. Could very well be, I can't tell. I was just addressing the idea in general that it's "chicken" to pick a FFP/Hide that offers concealment and protection. It's kind of the point. "If" he can see and cover what he needs to from that position (and, as you point out, that is questionable), then it's a pretty good position otherwise.

That pic is way clearer. He still has a pretty shitty field of fire being in between those
Small slits have been used very effectively as points to launch projectiles from since the days of bows and arrows.
Especially as the distances increase, a very small change in the angle of the barrel is all you need to cover a fair bit of a target area.
It has the advantage of making effective return fire on you a lot harder (assuming they don't have something to punch through your cover or drop on top of you).
The big problem I see, is that they have kind of treed themselves there and I don't see a good exit plan because if it went hot, one side would be calling in the drones or helicopters & they are kind of all perfect targets for a strafing run.
a strafing run would be a triggering event, no matter the circumstances. The poor batsterds on he bridge would be gone but the guys on the other bridge would be like the redcoats returning to Boston after Lexington and concord.

Ah I got ya, I thought he was on the other side, my bad. Still a crappy spot to ham a rifle into. Ive had to stick a rifle in a few tight spots before and it sucks. Plus if you have to move quick or yank the rifle out in a hurry it can get jammed fairly easily, that sucks.
