Hey fellas,

Been doing a lot of research lately in an attempt to identify this Undated German Gesichert for a buddy of mine. His grandfather said it was supposedly taken off of a German officer back in either WWI/WWII. The only military stamp I could find were something that resembled a small "D" over a "V" with an extra mark on it, similar but not quite an "N". If at all possible i would also like to get a round about figure on how much such a gun would be worth in the retail market. Seems to be in pretty good condition, all serial numbers match, however not to sure if this is original finish or not. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
BB

I can't quite read all the stamps from here.

Saftied would be a close approximation of a translation,

"If at all possible i would also like to get a round about figure on how much such a gun would be worth in the retail market."

To answer the OP:s Q, the Luger is heavily and rather poorly polished, all straight surfaces are broken and I think it looks like,

well a bad word. I am sure one can find a punter that will pay good money for it however in a real transaction I am afraid that it will not yuild a lot of moneys worth.

Your right about gesichert Cuga.

Now i'm no expert but since our country has been occupied by the Germans for 5 years we still see quiet a lot of these.

I'm pretty sures this is a Luger model 1908 (also called P08)and the internet is swarming with info about this model.

Here's the Wiki link.

Be careful when loading for this gun because it is pretty fragile from the start.
