I'd knocked off the alarm at 4am and got dressed, grabbed the kit and headed out to the shoot, the weather was dry but the west has taken a huge battering the past week with gale force winds in excess of 40mph.. and today i assumed the estimate of 26mph in open spaces and down to 8 mph in the covered areas.

i had received a call the last week from the owner saying the fox had bagged a couple more chickens and he was out with the shotgun lol, now i went off to a patch where they have been noted previously and i set up in wait to see if anything passed through or came out.

id been laid up in 13 mph winds for about 40 mins and getting a little shivery out of the fence line skipped a squizzer heading straight for me.. he was 60yds away but kept coming ? i wasnt ghillied just in olive drab yet he still kept coming. thinking to myself this buggers got some balls he got to about 24yds and just looked at me.. sat upright and i honestly thought he was gonna open his mouth and say " what ye looking at ya ugly twat" but before he did i put him down and was glad i did.. the bugger had bigger clangers than me lol

the crack and thud desturbed the local rabbits that had been tuked in the long grass and now ran out and i pinged this one at 85yds dialed the small adjustment for elevation and put in the 2 clicks for windage.

took aim and well you all know how this would end

i moved off again and laid up next to a horse box in the cover of trees

placed the rabbit and squirrel out at 182 yd (rabbit) and 100 yd (squizzer) and proceeded to lay up with the hope foxy may come in for a last min meal.

nothing came in for awhile then in dropped a woody and my pie was back on lol. after the last time i knew i had to be careful that i didnt blow it to bits again and started the dial process.

3 clicks down and 4 right for windage with a range to target of 72 yards.

taking careful aim i released the shot and a puff of feathers later i thought id done it again but not too bad theres still plenty of breast for me
