Re: East Texas?

I'm going to be looking for a spot to shoot toward the middle of May when I come down for work. I'm going to be right between Livingston and Woodville. Found a couple spots to pistol shoot, but I'm looking for something in the 600-800 range.

Re: East Texas?

There is a range in Panola County (Carthage). I used to live pretty much right next to it when I lived with my parents. I still shoot there when I go there for whatever reason. It's only 45 minutes from me now. The range is OK, nothing fancy. It has covered areas for pistol, rifle (25, 100, 200yds), and for NRA (200, 300, 400?, 600yds).

There is a range in Lufkin, which is about 20 minutes from me. I haven't been there or applied for a membership yet. From the pictures I have seen, it looks decent.

There is also a range near the Shreveport/Bosier City, LA area that looks really good. Has a range that goes out to 1000 yds. It also has steel target set ups. I haven't been to this range either, but I may in the future.

What is the name of the range in the Shreveport area you speak of? I just moved to the Arklatex and I really don't know where any ranges are as of yet. I'm living in south Arkansas right now about 45 min North of Shreveport but will be moving around Marshall TX or Carthage TX in the near future. Would love to test out my 1000 yd skills.

Re: East Texas?

LRA is a pretty nice place. I joined not long after they opened. I started hanging around so much that he hired me part time

. I'll have some weekends free pretty soon. If anybody wants to hit the 1000yd line out there, let me know.

Re: East Texas?

I think a membership is $175 a year. You don't have to be a member to shoot a match. You can also come 3 times as a guest of a member for $5 per visit. I'm up for some long range any chance I get and I'm always ready to go with somebody who knows more about it than I do.
