I am looking to get a bag for PRS comps. I have the Eberlestock G4 Operator, but it's too big for matches. I need something for 1 and 2 day matches. I was looking at the MR 3DAP or the Eberlestock G2. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I am actually in the middle of trying to figure out what I want. I have fallen into prs head first and I am going to start traveling more and need a pack that I can organize and be ready. The people I have talked to about it have recommended eberlestock upranger but I am not sold. Im a bigger guy and I want something that fits and has pockets and room for organization.

Neither. I used to be a big MR guy, but ever since they shipped most of their manufacturing overseas, they lost me. Eberlestock has some great ideas, just terrible execution. I went with a Exo Mtn Gear pack (the 2200) model and couldn't be happier. The 2200 was their K2 frame, I believe the new K3 is 1800. They have a weapons carrier that is simple and you can cinch the shit out of your gun on it. Well made hip belt and shoulder straps (this is where Eberlestock sucks IMO). The bags are interchangeable, so you can get a bigger one if needed for other purposes. I shoot a lot of 2 day comps and there is more than enough room in my 2200 for everything you could possibly need. You can also get some hip belt pouches to carry stuff to make readily available. I wore one for the Vortex Extreme match which has a time based component and ran around with it for 7 miles without any issues. Made in USA.

I have seen a few guys with this pack at matches. It does fit "Big" guys.

Looks like a good bag, a little on the pricy side.

No doubt. I am an unabashed backpack whore and have had too many backpacks to even count. I still have my original Mystery Ranch Longbow that I actually got fitted for when they still made their backpacks in house. So far, the Exo has checked all the boxes. I added the hipbelt pouches to access stuff while my gun was still secured, and it just works. It is definitely a buy once, cry once type deal. I tried like hell to make the Eberlestock's work, but they just aren't there in terms of stability and comfort. Their integral rifle scabbard is a good idea, but I didn't like how it would flop around if I got to moving at a quicker pace.

Yea, I have a Dana Design pack that was made in MT and it's great, just looking for something with a front opening to get to everything without having to rummage from the top. I really only need to carry bags, ammo, magazines, kestrel, and tripod and binos. I can carry the gun.

MR still makes a ton of packs in house.

They are easy to spot - is it affordable?

Yes? Not made in USA.

So, I am two-ish hours from Bozeman, which is where MR is, and I literally have never seen anybody hunting with a Mystery Ranch pack. They may be great packs for wearing with body armor and going on raids, but for people who live for packing their rifle up a mountain and their elk down a mountain, they aren't a serious contender. You see mainly Stone Glacier and Kifaru, among serious mountain hunters, and now some Exo. I hunted an exo for the last two years. Great packs. Eberlestock I have never seen here either.

This is assuming that PRS is more like hunting than it is like Afghanistan. If the opposite is true don't listen to me.
