So FEDEX came in today with the Eberlestock X3 LoDrag that I ordered from Ceylonc (deltaoutdoorsman.com and hide sponsor). First thing to note is that I ordered this bag on Friday afternoon, it shipped Monday, and i received it Today (Wednesday). I purchased it because I wanted to consolidate my range bag and my drag bag so when I go to the range I only need to grab 1 bag. Relatively small, in comparison to the other Eberlestock bags, yet retaining the rifle scabbard, It seemed the X3 LoDrag would fulfill my needs. Time to see what it'll hold...
I quickly emptied all the contents of my range bag and my drag bag into the LoDrag and was pleased to find ample storage for all my things in the split compartment. I used the divider up top to organize my different types of targets and also to place my log book. With all this extra space it was time for the test.
First in was the rifle, a GAP Crusader (23'' Barrel) with a SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 and Triad Tactical's Scope Cover/Stock Pack. The rifle fit into the scabbard with plenty of room to spare and the scope cover ended up just below the top. Perfect fit! With the buckles engaged there is minimal lateral play for the rifle to swing around and its very comfortable to carry.
Then I wanted to see just how much ammunition I could fit into the lower compartment. A part of the reasoning behind purchasing the LoDrag was the ability to compete in events like the Tough Man division of the Mammoth Sniper Challenge, so I wanted to know my max ammo load capability. I started to fill the compartment with boxes of FGMM and it took in all of the boxes i had readily available, with no room to spare.
After 19 Boxes of FGMM I was satisfied with the Lower Compartments available space. It took all 19 boxes without unreasonable force and the zippers closed with relative ease. Im sure another box or 2 could be held if needed, but In a competition setting, I highly doubt the need for 400+ rounds all in one compartment... Let alone the weight associated with 400 loaded rounds.
Summary:
PROS:
-Excellent Load Capacity for a smaller dimension bag
-Very Comfortable, even with heavy load (50lbs+)
-High Build Quality (as expected with Eberlestock)
-Excellent Price and Service from Ceylonc (deltaoutdoorsman.com)
CONS:
-TBD (Doubtful, however will report upon more usage)
p.s. Pardon the terrible carpet, gotta love On Post Army Lodging...
