Effect of 20 MOA base

For purposes of my understanding: IF my scope's mechanical zero just happened to be dead on at 100 yards when on a 0 MOA base and then I install a 20 MOA base wouldn't I have to adjust my scope down 20 MOAs to stay zeroed at 100 yards?

Correct. You lose 20 moa down travel but gain 20 moa up travel (extra elevation)
