Oh it can be done, just remember your fundamentals...and pack an orbital defense cannon from a star wars movie

Please, if you don't mind, what is your basis for this statement? Since I'm just learning, maybe you can help me understand why, or how this could never happen? What's your theory on how he did it, because the egg did explode.

At ranges that have distances out to 1000 yards, do they have things like steel setup for guys already or was that something you had to place out there?

Let me say it again, since you must have missed it. The egg was a plastic Easter egg filled with white talc on a small wooden dowel. Not a real egg that breaks from dirt hitting it. At manatee they have steel of different sizes set up at 1000 yards, and at 565 yards. They also allow you to place your own targets out at any range. The one thing I know they don't allow is the dry chemical reactive (explosive) type targets.

Matt, please let me be more direct. Why is it that you feel it's OK to call someone a bull shitter whom you don't really know? Maybe if you would take the time to get to know me, you would find out that I only post about things I know to be fact. Also that I am a stand up kind of guy who would do anything to help anyone who needs it, instead of some shit head who sits around trying the demean others.

STR - it is OK, you can see our hard-boiled eggs explode in my you tube vid posted above too...some people who don't know better just like to blow off at the mouth. The benefit of internet anonymity

Hard boiled eggs, gorilla-taped to eggs by fishing line worked great.

That is awesome. I just actually got to see your vid on a full screen for the first time. You're correct, some people view life through a straw, and think that if they, or someone they know can't do something, then it can't be done. I don't get upset, but will resopnd in a civililized defensive manner when called a liar by someone who does not know me from Adam. I'm sure he is an OK guy, just doesn't realize he is being rude.

Re: Egg at 1000 yards

Accuracy is a funny thing.

People hit X-s on our club's targets at 900 and 1000, that's a 2 inch wide, ~3" long ring and we shoot 9 shot strings.

I've had days I seem to struggle to be on the damn paper 9 shots in a row, and I've shot into the X at 1k too.

There are guys that on the right day I wouldn't bet against being able to repeatedly make that shot given 10 rds, but I'm not one of them!

Re: Egg at 1000 yards

If you watch my video, you can count how many shots it took...7-8 i believe for the one in frame. Of course hitting 2 in a row will be nearly impossible...but there was no option, each person only had 1 egg. I had never hear of anyone shooting eggs at 1000 yards until the match I ran in my original video, so it does not really happen at too many venues.

The easter eggs are a good idea, but there is just something cool about a real egg

Re: Egg at 1000 yards

Just ran across this thread and thought I should chime in. First off knowing Ozzie (STR) personally I can tell you that there is no one more straight up in this game than he. If he tells you he saw it than bet your life on it it's true. Furthermore there are few in this site who contribute more useful information /videos to help others (at no profit) than he does so to call "BS"(basicly a liar) is irresponsible and flat out insulting.

Additionally I have been many times to that same range he just mentioned and can honestly say that everytime I have been there what I watch some of these guys doing can only be described as amazing. Time and time again I have watched their 565 matches (which consist of 15rnds at a 5"gong) go into overtime/tie with the winner being the one who hit the gong 18 and sometimes 20+ times in a row. Their 1000yd matches have also been nothing short of impressive. So I have no doubt that there is not only one but a few guys out there that can hit an egg at 1000yds.

Re: Egg at 1000 yards

Matt, thanks, that's not an easy thing to do, and I appreciate it. It really was one of those incredible shots to see for a guy like me who isn't used to seeing this kind of thing on a regular basis.

Re: Egg at 1000 yards

Thats an impressive shot. I shoot golf balls all day first round hits at 600 yards no problem. And can drill a 6 inch gong at 1000 yards all day long even cold bore but an egg would be a really really great shot to say the least.
