EGW Bag-Rider System

Re: EGW Bag-Rider System

Yes rest, no prone. I don't use the rear as I have a PRS butt stock. Drilled another hole up front so I was not having to depend on only 1 screw. My forearm is a JP, so I did not have to drill and tap the forearm for the second screw.

Yes I would buy again. Hell, I don't shoot that rifle any other way!

Re: EGW Bag-Rider System

No I do not. However, my shooting buddy does. Quality piece IMHO. I would have bought one if I did not already have the AA (Alexander Arms) riser extender on my rifle.

Since it seems you don't have the whole thing purchased yet, I will tell my story of AR's. I personally think AR's are like bolt guns in that they can and should be built/bought for a particular purpose. Hunting, target, defense, competition, or whatever your heart and wallet desires. I personally have not found an all around rifle that suits me, so.....

In my case, this particular rifle is set up for shooting off of a rest only. It is a AA upper and lower that I completely rebuilt. It started out as a AA 6.5 Grendel Overwatch that had a good 3 shot group only barrel on it. After sending it back and being told the barrel was fine (they shot 3-3 shot groups and said the barrel was oily and to continue the "break in process". I had over 500 rounds through it to that point. Barrel was oily because I store my barrels that way. I have access to a Hawkeye and that barrel was a chatter marked SOB from one end to the other. I'll say it was consistent as hell in that they were evenly spaced though. Rant over), I decided I was not going to be happy until I rebarreled it. Long story short, it now has a Satern 24" 5R 8.75-1, JP 15", MagPul PRS, JP trigger, and EGW bagrider up front. It now is an honest .5 MOA rifle out to 600 yards. Have not shot it further.

Point my tirade is, if you want to run that bagrider, buy a forearm designed for it. Of course you can drill and tap most any forearm and make it work, but the JP works right out of the box. Think long and hard of how you wish to use the rifle, and buy parts you will use for that purpose. I have collected/bought quite a bit of stuff that now occupies a bucket and won't use anymore. On a good note, I now have AR's for just about every purpose I want. Such is life.....

sorry to respond to an old thread. Just bought the front bag rider for picatinny and i'm confused. Does the rail have to be drilled for the set screw? The set screw sticks out a significant amount. Is this supposed to be designed this way?

I think the set screw is just used for something to grab on, once installed the set screw will be unscrewed. Slightly screw it in, pull on it (against the spring) for the rider system to go over the rail, release the set screw and unscrew it. Sometime if it gets too loose the spring will fall out, you may have to disassemble to put the spring in correctly. Clear as mud........
