F T/R Competition EGW Manufactures Mystic Precision MPOD for the US

I am very happy to announce that Evolution Gun Works (EGW) will be manufacturing the Mystic Precision MPOD for the American market using all US sourced parts and labour. This will greatly speed up delivery and shipment. Drop postage costs down too.

They have taken their high level of manf to improve the overall appearance of the MPOD and to add some structural improvements. Very stable with great tracking, it handles the recoil of heavy bullets very well with little to no bounce or hop.

The MPOD is still the lightest F TR suitable bipod at under 13 oz installed

2013 was a great year with the new FTR World Champ using the MPOD to help him take the title. Several NRA FTR records for individual and team also went to MPOD shooters.

A new NRA F Open record was set with an MPOD equipped shooter at the Berger SW. I think there was another top podium finish at a recent mid range event.

I really appreciate the positive feedback I have been receiving from shooters around the world. Most reporting improvement in accuracy compared to the other bipods they were previously using.

For 2014, we are working on adding an often requested feature. This is the ability to adjust cant of the rifle while in position. This update will retrofit into all MPODs past and present. We are testing it to ensure that it will continue to give shooters great performance with little increase in weight.

The working prototype adds less then 1oz to the present design. It will likely be around 1 oz with new hardware.

I am presently testing Berger 230gr Hybrids in my new FTR rifle and I am able to see my own impacts at 600m. Tracking continues to be superb even with these heavy bullets.

If I may, consider putting a piece of thick nap carpet under the feet. It provides a consistent surface that improves follow through. At SR, I bet you can tune vertical to 1/4 min with good bullets, ammo and rifle.

Carpet on a thick rubber pad. This shot was taken just as the bullet left the muzzle - can see the haze of the gunpowder. No lifting of the feet. Tracked straight. I was shooting 200gr Hybrids.

Jerry how is the prototype working. I could have used it at Camp Pendleton I had right leg half way out and left leg all the way out.

I have done preliminary testing on the prototype with very good stability. On my rifle, once locked, it stays put even when inclined a far amount. We are moving to produce a short run so that a select number of MPOD users can also test/beat on and give some feedback. These are parts that will retrofit into the MPOD you have now.

Understand, not being a production part, finish will not be 100%. The intent is Beta testing... go beat on it hard. If things don't work, we can tweak and adjust before a production run. The parts I have raise my overall weight 1oz so still pretty darn light.

The range of tilt of my part will allow the rifle to rest on an incline so that one leg is fully collasped and the other fully extended. That looks like a 35-40 deg slope.

That should be enough for most terrains

What's up Jerry?
Just wanted to throw in my experience with the Mystic Precision MPOD. I needed a lightweight bipod and found Jerry's company through another forum member last summer. Since then I have set 2 individual FTR records and been on a team that set the 600 record. I like it better than higher priced bipods, at half the weight of some other popular models. Looking forward to the cant adjustment, and its great to see US production with EGW.

Jerry, I picked up your bipod after seeing Robbie shoot with it. It's super light, stable, and tracks well. Not much more a guy could ask for. I actually had a good conversation on the phone with you back in winter, when I ordered the long legs.I remember you telling me that you were getting set up with EGW. Congratulations on that! they enjoy the reputation they have for a reason. You also gave me some good advice on using the bipod and setting up. I think you should push the long legs a little more. I haven't shot in the varied conditions and ranges that Robbie and Nik have, but I have yet to use the short legs since I received the longs. A lot less flex with the legs extended using the longs... I'm interested to see the new cant hardware as well.

I am very happy that you have found the MPOD to your liking. The long legs are popular in the US due to the flat firing points most shoot from. In Canada and overseas, inclined firing positions are more common so you will need the standard legs. I only use the long legs when I go to the US. If shooting from the bench, the standard legs are just fine.

EGW does wonderful work and they helped me add a simple but very important change to the outer legs. There is now a solid section in the middle of the leg and the little flex that was part of the orig is now gone regardless of inner leg length used and where you position it.

Sometimes the big improvements are so very simple.

The cant parts will go to Beta testers in the coming month or so. Then will wait to hear after they have had a chance to beat on the parts. For now, I have enough testers but will contact if someone drops out.

Continued success and maybe see you at the US Nationals this Oct... hoping to make it down.
